MPF Federal is to implement Unanet ERP. Its current rate of growth has outstripped the operational systems that first supported it. Founded in 2012, the company has grown quickly and now has 82 employees (according to LinkedIn). It is an SBA Certified HUB Zone and Woman-Owned SDB with offices in Maryland and Pennsylvania. MPF Federal offers various project services, including support for training, research, IT, program management.

The challenges

As the company grew, projects became larger and more complex. It became obvious that it needed better systems to support its operations. An example is a recent win for the FDA on-site records and information contract. It won that through a joint venture company,  MPF-ZAI Solutions, LLC and a subcontractor, BarnAllen technologies, Inc.

Kim Franklin, controller for MPF Federal, commented: “We couldn’t gather insight into profitability, job cost and other KPIs, and our system was limited in handling other critical business needs, so we searched for a comprehensive ERP solution that was purpose-built for the government contracting industry. Unanet came highly recommended for its ease of use and excellent customer service. We think Unanet will be a game-changer for our business.”

The project

MPF Federal plans to roll out the Unanet GovCon ERP over the summer months. Once complete, it will have put in place processes and controls that will increase the efficiency of its business functions. Project managers will have real-time information to analyse their projects, and the business leaders will have oversight across all projects. This will enable them to better forecast resource requirements and plan budgets.

Kim Koster, vice president of GovCon product marketing for Unanet, commented: “MPF Federal has proven itself to be an invaluable support to dozens of government agencies, but like many other expanding, successful businesses, it quickly grew out of off-the-shelf software. They took the time to consider what their needs were, and what they wanted their ERP system to do, and we took to the time to listen. We’re thrilled MPF Federal chose to implement Unanet, and we look forward to watching them grow and succeed further.”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

Unanet continues to win new business in the GovCon market. While MPF Federal is planning to roll out the Unanet ERP solution, there is no mention that this will also include the recently launched CRM for Govcon. Unanet may hope that once the ERP is deployed, replacing the existing legacy systems, such as CRM, becomes a later phase.
