That solution was deployed in 2008. In deploying the AWS-hosted multi-tenant cloud-based solution, SDEC will receive several benefits.

The new solution is more comprehensive than the original M3 application. It will extend the equipment hiring business’s capabilities. It will also remove some of the legacy applications from third-party vendors that SDEC has implemented over the years. The Infor OS will enable the company to extend the solution with other applications. They include the business intelligence application, Infor Birst, that SDEC will deploy

As this is a multi-tenant cloud solution, Infor will regularly roll out updates to the solution . It means SDEC can immediately take advantage of them without having to perform a maintenance update. Instead, application changes require switching on. This leaves the control with SDEC, and major updates enable them to focus on change management rather than technology challenges.

Ahmed AlKooheji, director of corporate services at SDEC, commented, “To keep expanding to support our customers and Saudi Vision 2030, SDEC needed to transform its ability to manage sales, business processes and supply chain management.

“By migrating to the cloud with Infor, we will gain agility and improve visibility across the business, enabling us to seamlessly manage multiple complex projects. This will improve outcomes for customers while enhancing the way we allocate resources.

“The solution also will create a solid foundation for our growth by streamlining vital business processes and allowing us to transform into a truly smart business.”

Infor CloudSuite Equipment will help improve the efficiency of its field service workforce. It is part of a wider digital transformation project, Digi-Step. The Infor project will simplify, automate, and gain visibility of business processes, including supply chain management, production, financial management, stock taking, and after-sales service.

Equipment hire now powers SDEC powered by Infor

SDES was founded in 1978 as an equipment manufacturer. It has since evolved and grown to be the number one equipment hire company in the region with the help of M3. It is part of the Abduljawad Group of Companies, including Universal Motor Agencies, Barwill Shipping, PLC Arabia, and Saudi Amana Construction. The company still manufactures and provides general and bespoke diesel power generators and other accessories and solutions for construction, lifting, and concrete production.

SDEC operates across several markets, including Saudi Arabia’s diesel generator market. It was expected to grow by more than a 12% CAGR between 2022 and 2027, according to research from MarkNtel Advisors. Key to this growth is the construction and mining sectors, according to MarkNtel.

The company employs around 250 people and has offices in eight locations within KSA and two in UAE. SDEC has already supported some major projects in Saudi Arabia, including the new city of Neom, the Medina Metro project, and Qiddiya, an entertainment zone in Riyadh. The new cloud solution will increase internal efficiency and improve the supplier, partner and customer relationships across the region it operates in.

The new solution will also support it as an agent for global brands such as Doosan, Everdigm, Mitsubishi and Daewoo. It will be able to integrate ordering systems with OEMs, saving hundreds of person-hours.

AlKooheji concluded, “SDEC is also looking at future Infor innovations such as business process management and RPAs, which we believe can automate non-ERP-related systems and manual repetitive tasks, which is expected to yield more than 10% savings to our bottom line.”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

This is a significant win for Infor, even though it replaces its Legacy solution. Alkooheji is an advocate of Infor. Once the solution is deployed, it will no doubt become a strong reference for the company in Saudi Arabia.

AlKooheji commented in a video in 2018 about the Infor M3 solution, “Our relationship with Infor is very strong, is very close. I would say that they are one of the best companies when it comes to hearing the customer and acting quickly.”

Kerry Koutsikos, Infor VP and GM for Middle East and Africa commented, “By migrating to the cloud and replacing legacy systems with Infor, SDEC is demonstrating the power of industry-specific solutions to help organizations raise their efficiency, agility, and overall ability to serve customers and support national diversification and development plans. We look forward to continuing to support SDEC on its digital transformation journey.”
