Do you have the right data framework for your application platforms? (Image Credit: Nick Fewings on Unsplash)Organisations are overwhelmed with data, but many of them struggle to get the best from it. The problem is not just about the volume of data they have. There is a significant issue with how they unlock the data and make it available to their application platforms.

Enterprise Times spoke with Richard Davies, UK, Country Managing Partner at Netcompany. As an IT services company, Netcompany spends a lot of time looking at the underlying data platforms of its clients. It has a very specific view on what organisations should do to make things happen.

Davies says, “There’s been an explosion in applications across most firms and most industries, but you’re still not unlocking that data that’s hidden away in those legacy systems, and that’s a real challenge. Because if you’re to create new ways of digitising firms and industries, you have to address that legacy issue, you have to get at that data that’s locked away, and you have to find a way of building new data platforms on top of that.”

Talking further with Davies, it seems that one of the big challenges is getting the right questions in place before you start. What do you want? What are you trying to achieve? Do you have a viable discovery process to identify the right data?

In this podcast, Davies addresses all of these and more. To hear what he has to say, listen to the podcast.
