Sage is celebrating its appearance as a Superbrand on the annual ranking of the UK’s strongest B2B brands. While it did not make the top ten it was one of only 52 to be awarded Superbrand. Superbrands considered 1,600 brands across 63 categories for the accolade. A poll of 2,500 business professionals and 24 senior B2B industry leaders that make up the Superbrands council determined the leaders. The top five of which were:

  1. Apple
  2. Microsoft
  3. Emirates
  4. British Airways
  5. Samsung

Sage made the list for its “reliability, distinctiveness and quality for customers”. Ron McMurtrie, Chief Marketing Officer at Sage commented: “As a technology company, innovation is at the core of what we do. To achieve this status is truly humbling and reflects the trust that customers place in Sage to help them do business every day.

“For Sage, the value of being named a Superbrand lies in our ability to champion the interests of our customers and colleagues.  This award is testament to the great work that Sage colleagues do every day, for customers, partners and our wider communities through the Sage Foundation.”

The good news for Sage is that besides Microsoft it has not yet been overtaken by one of its competitors in the software industry. It is also surprising that companies like Oracle or SAP have not made the list. This does mean that Sage still has strong brand awareness in the UK.

Results since Steve Hare took control of the company have been solid. However, Sage is restructuring its portfolios of products currently. It recently dropped Sage Financials (Sage Live) and will launch Sage Intacct in the UK later this year. It will face a fierce fight with Oracle NetSuite for the mid-market though.
