Hunterdon Health will continue its digital transformation journey by implementing the Infor ERP for finance and supply chain management. The announcement comes eight years after the healthcare provider transformed its organisation by moving to Chrome Enterprise, Google Workspace, and Acer Chromebooks. The cloud-based productivity solution enabled all staff to run cloud-based solutions.

Hunterdon Health was founded in 1946 as a non-profit to provide healthcare to the residents of Hunterdon, NJ. This was the only county in the state without a comprehensive medical facility. Centred around its 178-bed teaching hospital, it now has a network of over 30 primary and specialty practices throughout Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer, Warren and Morris counties. The Hospital is a Five Star Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Leapfrog-rated “A” hospital in New Jersey. It also has several other awards and accreditations.

The organisation continues to expand, opening an Advanced Imaging centre in Clinton and a family medicine practice in 2023. As the organisation grew the leadership realised that its back office systems needed modernising. It has turned to the cloud as it looks to better manage resources such as people, supplies, clinical data, and financial assets. The end goal is to provide better patient care. If it can achieve this with greater efficiency, even better.

Modernising the back office with Infor

Looking at its legacy systems, it decided to move to a single-platform solution. The intent is to eliminate silos that might exist between different teams and eliminate most of the spreadsheets likely in use.

It selected the Infor Healthcare solution “to provide employees and managers with a seamless and intuitive experience from anywhere and on any device”. Coupled with this Infor provides a robust analytics platform that will deliver insights from across the business in real-time. It isn’t clear which modules Hunterdon Heath will or has deployed. But it will cover supply chain and enterprise financial management at least.

Underpinning Infor CloudSuite Healthcare is the Infor OS, which includes a leading integration platform. This will enable integration to a wide range of EMR and out-of-the-box best practice capabilities. Bringing the clinical and business data into a single data lake will enable Hunterdon Health to highlight deeper insights and make better-informed decisions around healthcare delivery and the business.

What isn’t clear is whether Hunterdon Healthcare already leverages Infor Cloverleaf. Or whether it will do so as part of this agreement. In 2010, Hunterdon deployed Intersystems Ensemble. Has that integration platform reached its end of life, will Infor now replace that?

Edmund Siy, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital & Information Officer, Hunterdon Health, commented, “Hunterdon chose to partner with Infor because of Infor’s deep history in healthcare and because of the capabilities the healthcare ERP platform offered over the alternatives. Including the ability to clinically connect the platform to our electronic health record, allowing real-time visibility and insight across the enterprise.”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

This is an important win for Infor as it continues to win significant traction in the Healthcare market in the US. Infor continues to innovate in the healthcare industry, recently announcing that Infor Cloverleaf has integrated with NVIDIA Holoscan. Other customer wins this year include Sanford Health, adding to the 750 customers that Infor has in North America alone.

There is little detail in the release around timescales. Or which modules from the Infor CloudSuite Healthcare portfolio have gone live. The release uses the word launch, but it is unclear whether that is the implementation project or if the solution is fully live. It will be interesting to see whether Hunterdon Health participates in one of the short customer corner videos that Infor regularly produces in the near future.
