Healthcare Image by Mohamed Hassan from PixabaySanford Health is to implement a suite of Infor Healthcare Applications. The largest rural-based healthcare system in the US has 48 medical centres, 211 clinic locations, and more than 160 Good Samaritan Society senior living centres. Headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, it serves over 1.4 million patients and almost 200,000 health plan members in a region that spans 250,000 square miles.

The organisation has 2,900 Sanford physicians and advanced practice providers, 540 active clinical trials, and nine clinic locations worldwide. Every year, it supports 5.9 million outpatient and clinic visits and over 140,000 surgeries and procedures.

Once implemented, the Infor solution will provide a centralised data repository that it can use to help break down the silos of information across departments and locations. It will reduce manual administration and enable caregivers to focus on and prioritise care.

Infor offers a solution dedicated to healthcare

Sanford Health has used Infor Cloverleaf alongside applications such as EPIC, Sectra PACs, Workday, and ServiceNow. The healthcare provider will now implement Infor’s finance and supply chain solutions.

The advantage that Sanford Health perceived with the Infor solutions is that they would not require much manual customisation. The industry-first approach of Infor means that healthcare processes and workflows already exist within the application. Infor was also able to demonstrate an extensive product roadmap and a forward-thinking approach. An example of this is the work that Infor has done with another customer, Confluence Health. Using Infor Confluence Health has implemented AI-driven automation to maximize its usage of resources and labor, and attract and hire top talent.

Infor was also able to prove that it could easily integrate its solutions with the rest of the Sanford Health technology stack. It offers a modern, cloud-based technology stack powered by AWS. Infor CloudSuite Healthcare offers end-to-end capabilities across financial and accounting, supply chain, and HR capabilities. Though Sanford Health appears to be retaining its Workday platform for HR.

The Infor solution will help improve procurement, supply chain, and inventory management. Employees can access the solution with a modern UI on any device from anywhere. The platform also supports specific analytics designed over the years to meet the requirements of healthcare organisations.

Steve Fanning, Senior Vice President, Infor, commented, “We look forward to supporting Sanford Health in achieving greater operational efficiency and delivering exceptional health care services to the communities they serve.”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

This is a good win for Infor and demonstrates the strength of its healthcare offering. This was likely a competitive win against the other big technology incumbent, Workday. However, the decision shows that the dedicated healthcare ERP that Infor offers, alongside its integration capabilities, was more suitable for Sanford Health than the Workday financial management and supply chain applications.

Infor should now provide a more detailed case study of the difference that its applications have made at Sanford Health. Perhaps, having done so, other healthcare providers might consider its solutions. Healthcare ERP is a competitive market, with Oracle and Workday especially strong in the sector. Infor, however, has deep historical connections with Cloverleaf, which is used by many healthcare organisations.
