Previously available in the United States, Sage Construction Management is a complete solution that handles the end-to-end processes of construction management. It handles the lead tracking, bid process, and project management processes and can integrate with existing accounting solutions such as Sage Intacct and QuickBooks.

The solution

Sage Construction Management allows construction firms to manage the end-to-end process from wherever they are located, whether they are in the office or the field on a mobile device. It also has functionality that extends to third-party organisations.

The lead tracking and bid management functionality enables firms to track leads and prioritise the key next steps for each engagement. The solution allows bid managers to create professional bid packages that can include drawings, specifications and other documents.

The estimating process can import data from spreadsheets to create comprehensive estimates with the ability to attach documents, photos, or drawings to provide context. Once bids are won, the information is automatically passed to the project stage, so data is not lost or manually replicated.

Sage Construction Management then enables teams to manage projects from start to finish, supporting job code tasks and even enabling collaboration on documents. With tight integration to Sage Intacct Financials, it streamlines the process between operations and finance.

Customers in the United States are enthusiastic about one of the more recent solutions to emerge from Sage. Shawn Peterson, office manager at Mid-Atlantic Building Services, said, “In researching project management solutions, it was clear that this was the package for us. What is available

Not only are construction firms able to purchase Sage Construction Management, Sage is also offering the Sage Construction Essentials Package. This bundle includes several Sage solutions that provide a complete platform for construction firms to manage their business.

The different solutions contained within this are:

  • Sage Construction Management
  • Sage Intacct Core Financials
  • Sage Intacct Construction Module (contains the integration pack for Construction Management and Intacct Financials)
  • Sage Intacct Custom Report Writer
  • Sage University Learning, a full library of on-demand educational and training resources

Firms can also purchase Sage Construction Management standalone, and customers can easily integrate the solution into their accounting package. This hybrid approach is welcome, as it enables organisations to create a hybrid software architecture, that would mean less disruption to finance during the implementation. As companies grow, using the automation provided by Sage Construction Management, they can later opt to implement the powerful Sage Intact Financial Management solution to meet their growing needs.

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

Sage is slowly rolling out Sage Construction Management to other regions. The step across the border to Canada is easier than that to the UK or other countries. It will be interesting to see how quickly it will launch elsewhere.

In Canada, customers working within the construction industry and already using Sage CRE can now consider migrating to a fully cloud-based solution with all its benefits. When first launched, Sage Construction in 2020 had far less functionality and was focused on Sage Intacct. Now, it is more mature and a standalone product from Sage Intacct and will provide a worthwhile step forward.
