Cyara has announced the acquisition of Spearline, a telecommunication company that tests, monitors and benchmarks voice and video-base communication services. Founded in 2003 as a reseller of open-source software and Linux, it developed an automated telephone solution in partnership with PGi in 2009. Based in Ireland, it has a testing hub based in Romania and operations in India. Its solutions cover over 80 countries in the Americas, Europe, APAC and some African countries.
Cyara’s acquisition improves its leadership position as the global leader in CX testing and assurance. The Spearline solution works with over 80% of the Gartner UCaaS magic quadrant and includes NICE CXOne, Amazon Connect, Genesys Cloud, RingCentral and Zoom.
Spearline also offers comprehensive WebRTC testing, monitoring and support capabilities built for the new generation of WebRTC-based communications applications. It supports solutions like Adobe, Ring Central and AVAYA and claims to be the world’s most powerful WebRTC testing and monitoring platform.
The acquisition adds to the Cyara platform, which also includes another recent acquisition, Botium, a chatbot testing platform that automates 85% of chatbot testing.
Alok Kulkarni, CEO of Cyara, commented, “To support a remote workforce, organizations are moving their communications platforms to the cloud. While this eliminates the complexity of managing the hardware, there is new complexity in testing advanced features that come with these platforms, like AI, video and omnichannel. Cyara offers the only CX assurance platform that can address the complexity of these modern communications systems today and in the future.”
Neither party disclosed the terms of the acquisition. However, Cyara set up its first entity in Ireland on March 1st, presumably to become the holding company for Spearline.
What does Spearline offer?
Cyara has wasted no time ensuring that the Spearlines solutions are available on its website, adding a landing page as it announced the acquisition. Not only have they bought the Spearline flagship solution Voice Assure, but it will also have included IP from callstats.io, acquired in December 2022 and testRTC, the Israeli webRTC startup it bought in November 2021, for several million euros. Callstats.io provided its analytics, diagnostics and optimization technology for WebRTC.
Voice Assure enables organisations from any location in the US, Canada, and more than 80 countries to experience what their customers experience. It automates calls to verify call connection, voice quality, latency, and other important aspects of call performance. It sends notifications if there are any issues and provides a testing solution ideal for large organisations with complex dial-in systems. Customers include Google, Telefónica, AVAYA and Zoom. The testing platform supports more than 250 carriers.
Kevin Buckley, Co-Founder and CEO of Spearline, commented, “We are thrilled to join forces with Cyara to bring unmatched excellence to CX assurance. This strategic move enables us to help more customers transform their CX, making every interaction flawless. We are excited for Spearline to become part of this combined powerhouse, and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our customers.”
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
Another acquisition from Cyara adds another complementary suite of solutions to its portfolio. While the deal size was not announced, Cyara has added a significant organisation with more than 200 employees bringing its total number to 450, almost doubling the size of the acquisition in a single go.
What is missing from the announcement is how it hopes to ensure that 1+1 becomes more than 2. The two solutions are complementary, but can Cyara evolve to grab a bigger market share? Will this acquisition also push Cyara further up the leader quadrant of the G2 call centre quality assurance grid?
