Rocketlane Resource RequestsRocketLane announced an enhancement to the resource request feature within its PSA solution. Varshitha A, Product Manager, gave details about the update in a blog and a short video also accompanied the announcement.

For many organisations, resource managers become inundated by emails asking for a range of different requests. While a PPM solution will often help with their proactive resource management, dealing with the volume of emails can take a considerable amount of time. They also have different screens for different tasks.

Rocketlane has created a centralised resource request feature. It enables users to manage the most common requests from a single screen. In this first iteration, Rocketlane has included requests such as :

  • Requesting a new team member
  • Finding a resource for a role-based placeholder
  • Asking for additional hours/extension for someone
  • Finding a replacement for someone in your project
  • Shifting allocations in a project
  • Deleting allocations

Once the resource manager receives or creates the task, Rocketlane also prompts the user with smart recommendations based on the requirements for the role. Smart recommendations save huge amounts of time that is often spent filtering spreadsheets to find the ideal fit for a role. The system offers appropriate consultants based on skills, availability, and project requirements. The recommendation also gives visibility of the impact of any change on KPIs such as margin and utilisation.

The interface is also dynamic, so if the list of potential consultants is empty, the resource manager can alter the parameters of the request (not the tasks themselves) to see if any candidates might be able to fit the request. Once the right individual is identified, the resource manager can initiate the approval process with a single click or approve the allocation.

Varshitha summarised the update noting, “All the requests line up like perfectly arranged books on a shelf, letting you manage and fulfil hundreds of requests easily.”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

Rocketlane continues to improve its platform, introducing new features such as the resource request iteratively. It is also building up to a major release in the next few weeks. This is just the latest update from Rocketlane as it continues to invest in its product following the $24 million investment earlier this year. It will be interesting to see what else the development team has in store. Rocketlane is also sponsoring Dreamforce next month and will demonstrate its integration to Sales Cloud at the event.
