Gmail caught the attention of many security companies this week as it celebrated its 20th birthday. One reason for the attention is the new security rules Google is bringing in. It is releasing sweeping anti-spam and phishing changes.
A number of vendors continue to focus on analyzing the xy-utils backdoor breach. Much of the attention is on the need for better security scanning of open-source projects and a software bill of materials to see where such code is used.
A number of vendors also made advance announcements ahead of Identity Management Day on April 9th. Expect to see much more of that this week.

It delves into the characteristics of the criminal networks that pose the highest threat. The report covers all sectors of criminality but, importantly, is drawn from all EU countries. Only 9% of those involved in crime are directly identified as being involved in cybercrime. However, other crimes like fraud (15%) and extortion (5%) will also overlap with cybercrime.
