Georgia Gibson-Smith

As a Senior Manager in the Menzies Tax Disputes and Disclosures (TDD) team, Georgia helps individuals, businesses, and companies rectify their tax positions with HMRC. Having trained as an accountant and tax adviser with a general practice background, Georgia handles clients with various tax issues, including income tax, capital gains tax, corporation tax, VAT, and PAYE and employer-related matters. In the TDD team, Georgia liaises with HMRC on behalf of clients to bring disputes to an early resolution. Georgia prepares disclosures ranging from smaller voluntary disclosures to larger cases under COP8 or COP9, assists clients in reaching tax avoidance settlements, and manages complex compliance checks. Working in the TDD team provides Georgia the opportunity to engage with a wide range of clients. It is extremely rewarding for her to close a case with HMRC, achieving a favourable outcome for clients and giving them peace of mind to move forward. In her previous career, Georgia was a freelance musician. Outside of work, Georgia's passion continues to be playing music whenever possible, most frequently as a clarinettist in the Kew Wind Orchestra in Surrey.
