Unit4 Results Image credit Pixabay/GeraltUnit4 has delivered its sixth-monthly business update. Since its last investment, it has shifted its focus from providing financial details to prioritising customer success and product innovation. In its FY 2024 report, released in March, it highlighted cloud migrations for existing customers, product innovation, and its CSR initiatives.

In this update it was revealed that Unit4 has hosted X4U events across Europe sharing innovations with them about its self-driving ERP. Customers have expressed interest in the innovations that Unit4 is rolling out, especially for mid-market service companies. While it revealed that cloud migrations have continued this year, there have also been several net new customer wins to celebrate.

A growing number of customers have adopted the Unit4 Success4U service methodology. Over 50% of the 1,100 customers on Unit4 Cloud are utilising the outcome-based customer success initiative. Success4U helps with implementation, adoption, and enhances how organisations use Unit4 ERP.

Unit4 announced several customers, but it is unclear if these were net new or recently migrated to the cloud:

Product Innovations

Over the last few months, Unit4 has continued to innovate. In May, it launched Ava, an Advanced Virtual Agent that connects users through Microsoft Teams to their ERP system. Later that same month, the Spring 2025 update simplified workflow creation, enabling organisations to deliver better results. For example, Unit4’s Invoice Management Experience, powered by AI features like Invoice Data Capture (IDC) and the Accounting Prediction Service (APS).

The feature utilises AI to capture data on invoices, automatically coding them, simplifying approvals, and tracking invoices from start to finish. Overall, Unit4 estimates it increased accuracy by up to 50% and cuts processing times by 30%.

The update also introduces a new invoice follow-up screen. Integrated with Ava, the digital assistant simplifies invoice tracking. The new solution can also cut supplier inquiries by up to 40%, freeing up even more time for beleaguered Accounts Payable staff.

Unit4 also enhanced resource management, making it simpler to request resources and enabling resource managers to connect the right talent to the correct task. Other improvements include updates to financial management and other operational features.

A decade of Crazy Lab Days

Crazy Lab Days are internal innovation events where ideas developed by internal staff over a five-month period are then judged. The top five are transformed into working prototypes and potentially rolled out into the customer-facing live product once tested. The intent is to leverage ideas that solve real customer problems, and this is the tenth anniversary of them being set up.

Each year, there is a general focus, and several innovations have now been rolled out into the product. These include Ed the Manager (Smart Automation Services), Payroll Navigator, and AIMapping, which has revolutionised data discoverability.

Enterprise Times: What does this mean?

This is a positive update from Unit4; net new wins in the US and Europe demonstrate that its solutions are gaining traction in both the private and public sectors. The innovations continue to come, with a focus on practical AI that delivers real change within its ERP.

In H1 2025, Unit4 also announced the appointment of Jennifer Sherman as its new Chief Product Officer. Now several months into the role it will be interesting to see what her vision for ERPx is now.
