Enterprise Times with Southard Jones, Chief Product Officer, Tableau at Salesforce’s Agentforce World tour in London. Salesforce Tableau is a visual analytics platform acquired by Salesforce that helps users explore and understand data, primarily through interactive visualisations. It’s designed to support enterprises to make data-driven decisions by transforming data into easily digestible formats. Essentially, it’s a tool for business intelligence and data visualisation, now integrated with Salesforce’s broader ecosystem.
Jones emphasised the importance of giving data meaning and purpose encouraged enterprises to automate their processes despite possible data quality issues. According to Jones, “Many organisations are data rich, but insights poor. Board executives are now saying this is not acceptable.” Jones provided his top five tips for enterprises looking to get serious insights from their data. Here are the top tips from the conversation:
1. Business meaning
Give your data business meaning – translate data into the specific language and metrics your company uses to run the business. This should be the key metrics that your organisation should derive from its business data.
2. Try new solutions without fear
Try new solutions without fear. Even if an enterprise thinks its data is messy, they may be surprised by how easy and insightful the data can be.
3. Challenge old myths
Challenge old myths about data management. Businesses do not need to move all of its data to a central location. Use data orchestration tools like Data Cloud to connect and analyse data where it already exists.
4. Structuring your business data
Focus on structuring business data and translating it into business language that everyone in the organization can understand. Jones outlined the challenges of data unification and the concept of “zero-copy” introduced by Salesforce. This allows data to be accessed from various sources without moving it.
5. Use AI and data cleansing tools
Use AI and data cleansing tools to unify disparate data sources and create a more coherent view of an organisation’s information.
Jones suggests, that businesses have to operate in an increasingly data-driven world. Enterprises need to understand their data, gather insights, and make decisions fast. As a result, Jones emphasised that the key is to make data accessible, meaningful, and actionable for any specific business context.
