At Appian World, Gregg Aldana, Vice President of Global Consulting at Appian, signalled a shift in how the company sees its community of developers and practitioners. In many ways, it’s not really a shift but a change in tone and focus that will reap dividends.
That shift is being led by Aldana, who is extremely passionate about technology, and in particular, software development. He’s a developer at his core, so he has a strong affinity with developers, and that shapes how he sees the future.
At the start of Appian World, Aldana ran the first-ever Appian DevCon to address the two communities. It was hugely well received by the audience, with several saying they see him as a champion for what they deliver.

Having been in the role for nine months, what is Aldana’s plan for developers and practitioners? Where is Appian going? Why are we seeing a significant acceleration of new products and solutions?
In this podcast, Aldana talks about how he sees his role at Appian. He says, “I’m an agent of change. I like to grow companies and grow businesses.” One of the reasons for joining Appian was that his last company had plateaued, and he sees “so much growth potential” at Appian.
Aldana was asked how he would convince developers he was serious about changing the speed of development. His response was, “You have to prove it. You have to show proof, not PowerPoint slides. Not animated GIFs. Not demos. Proof of concepts, real, live production apps.”
