NTT is the third-largest global data centre operator with facilities in over 20 countries. With the market in the middle of a massive expansion to handle AI demand, where is it going? Over the last few years, it has been consolidating all its data centre business units into one unit, NTT Global Data Centers.
Bruno Berti is Senior Vice President of Global Product Management at NTT Global Data Centers. At NTT Upgrade 2025 in San Francisco, he sat down with Enterprise Times editor Ian Murphy to talk all things data centre.

One benefit of consolidation is standardisation. Berti said, “we are standardizing on our products globally. What our product looks like in the US is going to be the same product in Europe, same product in India. We can gain those economies of scale from the supply chain.”
NTT is committed to the future of this business. Berti said, “They have committed $10 billion out of their balance sheet through FY27 for expansion. We don’t have to wait for a contract to start a project.”
That is a significant amount of money, especially when you look at the amount of land already owned by the various data centre business units. It means the company can focus on refurbishment and new builds where they make sense, while being selective about new campus builds.
Another advantage that NTT Global Data Centers has over its competitors is access to NTT Research. The company is already looking at technologies such as IOWN and even the potential for Aluminium Nitrate (AlN). With the demands being driven by AI, the company sees these and other technologies as giving it a potential advantage .
