Appointment Door - Photo by Dima Pechurin on UnsplashDeltek has appointed Dan Barnhardt as its new Chief Marketing Officer. He assumes the role from Perry Hardt, whom he worked alongside at global ERP vendor Infor. Earnhardt will report to Natasha Engan, SVP and Chief Commercial Officer.

In his role as CMO, Barnhardt will lead the global marketing organisation. He will be looking to increase the firm’s 30,000 customers in over 80 countries. He will focus on brand evolution, digital engagement, demand generation, and customer advocacy. It is his first CMO role, but over the last few careers, he has been rising through the marketing leadership ranks.

His experience in brand transformation and, more recently, in scaling go-to-market strategy led Deltek to take Barnhardt back to the ERP world, where he started his career.

Bob Hughes, Deltek President and CEO commented, “Dan’s creative and strategic approach to marketing will be instrumental as we sharpen Deltek’s voice and modernise how we engage in the market. Dan brings a passion for digital marketing and a track record of helping brands connect with customers in authentic and differentiated ways. This strength will support our efforts across Deltek Project Nation.”

Barnhardt joins from Icertis, where he was VP of Corporate Marketing for the last three years. With a remit that included Brand / Positioning, DG Campaigns, Communications, Content, Creative, Customer Marketing, Events, and Website / Digital, he helped grow the business from $100M to $300M ARR.

He was previously VP of communications and Brand Marketing at Precisely. This was at a time when it was repositioning itself after the rebrand from Syncsort and the merger with Pitney Bowes Software Division.

Barnhardt also spent nearly nine years at Infor, rising to become VP and head of Global Communication and Brand. Before Infor, he worked in PR Agencies across various sectors.

Dan Barnhardt, Chief Marketing Officer, Deltek, commented, “Deltek became a global leader trusted by 30,000 customers by distinguishing itself through a commitment to customer service and product excellence, and the opportunity to build on that strong foundation is incredibly exciting.

“I’m looking forward to connecting with Deltek customers, partners, and team members alike as we accelerate growth for the next chapter of the company’s evolution.”

Barnhardt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Vanderbilt University.

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

A great role for Barnhardt, who is returning to the ERP sector that he knows well. As Chief Marketing Officer, he has a greater remit than he had in other positions. And it will be interesting to see his ideas in action as he helps to promote the Deltek brand. Like Infor, Deltek has a long history of servicing customers in its chosen industries of Architecture, Engineering and Consulting.

Also, like Infor, it is migrating its customer base to its more modern cloud-based solutions. It will be interesting to see how the messaging evolves and what initiatives Barnhardt brings to the table.
