Emergn is an organisation focused on improving product management expertise within organisations. First launched in September 2024, Praxis has evolved into a comprehensive suite of learning and support tools for product managers, product teams, and product-centric companies.
This latest version introduces Praxis Business and Enterprise. It has also added several new features that will be available to Praxis Professional individual users and enterprise subscribers — at the start of April, Praxis also restructured its pricing model.
Praxis enables individuals to develop at their own pace. The platform has collateral that teaches techniques around how you create the goals. There are also templates that subscribers can use within their organisation. These are suggested templates and techniques that ensure organisations do not have to conform to specific processes.
Emergn uses experience gathered from its consulting services to improve both the Praxis platform and also how organisations can leverage it.
Dr. Alexander Osterwalder, Founder and CEO of Strategyzer, commented, “Success comes from linking innovation with transformation. It’s what we call ‘dual mindset organizations.’ I have witnessed Emergn successfully implement this approach in organizations around the globe. I have complete trust in them as a partner in building product-centric companies and capabilities.”
Enterprise Times also spoke to Alex Adamopoulos, Chairman and CEO of Emergn, about the release and Emergn in a conversation that will be published later. I asked him what the sweet spot for Praxis is.
He replied, “The sweet spot for Praxis is the embedding of product management skills inside the organization. It’s not just for product managers. These are essential skills that companies now need across several roles to remain competitive and accelerate the way they’re competing.”
Moving to a product-centric approach
Organisations worldwide are facing digital transformation initiatives. The Emergen Transformation Fatigue survey found that 70% of employees recognize the importance of effective transformations to remain competitive. However, there are challenges. 58% reported burnout from the additional work created by change programs. 50% of employees have considered leaving their jobs because of transformation fatigue.
That fatigue is because of the additional work created for employees by transformation programs. Emergn believes that Investments in transformative strategy, technology and processes will struggle without effectively adopting a product-centric mindset and skillset across an organization’s workforce.
They are not alone; Mik Kersten, CTO of Planview, wrote, “Organizations that manage IT delivery as projects instead of products are using managerial principles from two ages ago and cannot expect those approaches to be adequate for succeeding in this one. Visionary organizations are creating and managing their Value Stream Networks and product portfolios in order to leapfrog their competition in the Age of Software.”
Emergn widens this to all projects within the organisation, especially those that deliver products and services. It is where Praxis excels, having built up a corpus of knowledge over the last 15 years.
Alex Adamopoulos, Chairman and CEO of Emergn, commented, “Praxis is an extension of what Emergn has been doing since our inception in 2009. It’s built on our renowned VFQ philosophy, which has helped major global brands, including Walmart, GSK, BP, Maersk, and hundreds more, become product development leaders.
“Praxis expands and complements our ability to provide product guidance and support to our current and future customers – whether individuals, small businesses, or global enterprises.”
Latest Praxis features
This release also sees several enhancements that customers will welcome.
The Ultimate Product Manager Pathway
The latest addition to the Praxis curriculum, Product Strategy, represents the third pillar of product management, thus completing the Ultimate Product Manager Pathway. It joins Product Discovery and Product Delivery and will equip learners with the expertise to build and validate the assumptions behind their product strategy and use data to shape the product roadmap, secure stakeholder support, and promote the organization’s growth.
Learning Journey
The new version of Praxis delivers customized learning journeys by recommending modules and courses based on a user’s specific jobs-to-be-done (JTBD) and learning goals. Learners can choose between a module-based or course-based approach, ensuring relevant content that aligns with their aspirations, whether improving in their current role or transitioning into Product Management.
This structured yet flexible approach empowers learners to apply their knowledge immediately while developing key skills for long-term career growth.
Productivity Tools and In-Depth Resources
New tools and resources make Praxis an invaluable productivity tool for product teams in their daily work. The powerful AI Consultant, trained in Emergn’s product expertise, helps users quickly solve job challenges in real-time. Plus, interactive templates help users apply what they learn to their work while they learn. Praxis’ extensive resource library also delivers insight into key techniques and methods essential for achieving product success. These tools extend Praxis’ enterprise ROI well beyond training.
What is the AI Consultant?
The AI Consultant is an AI copilot that helps subscribers access information using a natural language interface. Subscribers can ask questions about the data set that Emergn has built from years of experience, and it will respond.
Adamopolous gave an example of how it works, saying, “Platform users can query almost anything. For example, ‘I’m a civil servant, and I’m trying to run a complex transformation program, but I’m not getting support from my senior leaders. What do you suggest?’. It would offer responses that are specific to the body of knowledge that we have in this area.”
Availability of Praxis
There are now four tiers for Praxis, with pricing is as follows:
- For individuals
- Praxis Free – $0/month
- Praxis Professional – $99/month
- For organizations
- Praxis Business – $2,500/year
- Praxis Enterprise – Custom pricing
Praxis Professional is a standalone version that targets product management professionals. It includes a significant subset of the learning paths and includes:
- Introductory courses on VFQ and Product Management
- Access to Product Discovery, Delivery, and Strategy courses
- Access to the AI Consultant
- More than 60 interactive tools, techniques, and books
Praxis Business is targeted at organisations that want to enable product managers. It also offers the Agile Practitioner Course. The tier includes the benefits of the Professional tier and 12 days of annual consulting support from Emergn’s experts.
Praxis Enterprise is a combination of the Praxis platform and the Emergn consulting services, which it has been offering since 2009. Emergn helps them create and execute against corporate strategy as it relates to their portfolio or product strategy.
While the ethos of the consulting services is to make organisations self-sufficient around product management, Praxis is a tool for product managers which automates tasks and helps organisations to maintain a product-centric philosophy.
It also delivers Emergn a more sustainable revenue model with subscriptions. It includes full access to the Praxis platform, including custom and instructor-led courses, role-based learning pathways, enterprise-level certifications, and in-person consulting and collaboration with Emergn experts.
The future
Later in Q2 2025, Emergn will also launch Product Discovery, Delivery, and Strategy Practitioner Certifications for users across all Praxis tiers. These will be in addition to the existing certifications for Product Manager, Agile Practitioner, Leadership and Software Engineer.
Adamopoulos also shared how Praxis will develop in the future. He said, “Well, Praxis is going to continue to evolve over the next year, specifically with a greater emphasis on capitalizing on AI use.”
Emergn is aiming to add access to other key data sources that would support a product manager or employee using the platform.
He then added, “We’re going to continue to customize the tailored learning experience because we think this is a key differentiator for the product. Then, we’re going to continue to tie it back to our business and our enterprise offering so that it fully supports the work we’re doing on the ground as a global consultancy with enterprise clients, as it is a core part of everything we do.
“If we’re doing a large transformation program with any bank or any retailer or any pharma, pick a sector, we would typically always include the product management capability development as a core aspect of that engagement.”
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
Emergn is the leading consultancy in the field for organisations looking to adopt a product-centric approach. With Praxis, it is now making its corpus of knowledge available to a wider audience, which will enable it to scale its customer base. The question is whether it can continue to support clients’ consulting requirements while improving the value that Praxis delivers.
Adamopoulos added, “Current product management training is based too much on theory, leaving product managers unable to effectively execute their role, which ultimately prevents organizations from capturing market share, growing revenue, and achieving their goals.
“Praxis goes beyond theory, enabling people and companies to perform using the same work-based learning approach Emergn has used to help the world’s biggest brands develop lasting capabilities, execute successful product strategies, and drive continuous innovation.”
Praxis sounds impressive, and certainly, the latest additions, only a few short months after its release, demonstrate that it wants to iteratively improve the product. It will be interesting to see the frequency of updates and also what the take-up of this product is. In the future, will it be seen as a SaaS vendor, a focused LMS, a consulting firm or a combination?
There are also other opportunities. Will it forge partnerships with firms like Planview, or could it become an acquisition target for one of the global SIs?
