Qntrl, a Zoho brand and the vendor behind a leading business process management (BPM) platform, has released the latest version of its solution. The new release includes several new features, many of which are targeted at the Indian market, according to the release. Features highlighted include:
- Bridge: A lightweight independent agent that facilitates communication between Qntrl and third-party systems.
- Circuit: A visual IT workflow orchestration engine that allows users to code and manage business processes quickly.
- A new sandbox environment: A testing environment that allows testing prior to production.
- Intelligent task assignments.
- More than 50 other new features and updates, from personalised view modes to real-time advanced assignments and a marketplace for workflows.
These new features enable Qntrl users to build hybrid workflows natively within the BPM solution.
Gopalakrishnan Vaikuntam, Global Product Manager, Qntrl, commented, “In a typical enterprise, there are specific tools for various processes. However, low adoption due to the rigidity of these tools leads to employees falling back to offline follow-ups, email escalations, and using other disparate solutions. This fragmented approach creates significant challenges, such as difficulties in integrating complex, cross-departmental processes, poor team coordination, and limited visibility for stakeholders.
“The latest version of Qntrl is designed to address these challenges, empowering business leaders to define the overarching structure and also offer teams the autonomy of tweaking processes for continuous improvement and greater adoption.”
Bridge
Bridge is an independent installable agent that can be deployed on a customer’s local network on both Windows and Linux machines. It facilitates communication between Qntrl and third-party solutions, both on the Cloud and on-premise.
The Bridge agent communicates with Qntrl using a WebSocket connection and then integrates with third-party solutions in a customer’s private network with a variety of protocols supported. These include:
- SSH
- REST APO
- Web Services
- JDBC
- File Transfer
Bridge provides a secure connector with servers, SaaS applications, and legacy on-premise applications. It allows users to create workflows that can bridge the divide between systems that may previously have been impossible.
Examples where this could be used, are connecting an eCommerce site to an Order management platform, retrieving data from a legacy database or as part of a loan approval process to validate a customer’s credit score, credit history, income details, and other details, returning a simple yes/no answer, rather than having to transfer personal data across the internet/link.
Circuit
An IT orchestration workflow engine that empowers enterprise IT teams to visually design and automate complex processes. By enabling event-driven workflows and optimising tasks such as data processing, Circuit accelerates time-to-resolution for critical errors and reduces manual intervention.
Sandbox environment
The sandbox is a new testing environment that allows organisations to gain hands-on experience with a change before deploying it to a live environment. The feature is supported in the Enterprise trial and Enterprise edition of the software only.
Organizations can have multiple environments where they can test their new processes and make changes without affecting the existing processes.
Intelligent Task Assignments
The assignment of tasks can be arduous. Qntrl has added automatic task assignments with advanced transitions. It means that Qntrl uses real-time data to assess the assignment of tasks. It takes into consideration the balance of workload across users and the expertise of those users. Once deployed, Qntrl eases the burden of task management across the organisations.
Qntrl is growing in India
Launched in 2022, Qntrl delivers a platform to orchestrate workflows across an organisation. It manages all data dependencies, and now, with Bridge, that extends well beyond the Qntrl platform to include third-party solutions. With the Bridge agents in place it also keeps organisational data secure with minimal data transfers.
The platform has seen the most success in India but is available globally. It is offered in three plans: Standard, Enterprise and Custom. Paid plans start at ₹900 per user/month, with an annual contract. In the UK, the price starts at £12 per user/month.
Qntrl has seen 30% growth in recent years with customers including ITC Limited, Crom, Hexagon India, Ideaforge, Polyfind Exide and Buroserv.
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
Qntrl 3.0 was released in September, and it is not clear how the firm has named this release, whether it is still rolling out the Qntrl 3.0 features or part of Qntrl 3.1. Regardless, there are some very useful features in this release, especially Bridge. It will be interesting to see what live use cases emerge in the coming months as customers take advantage of the new features.
