BR-DGE, the Payment Orchestration platform vendor, has appointed Chun Ong as Chief Operating Officer. The appointment comes as the firm is scaling its operations. Earlier this year, it appointed Gerard Pottinger as head of Asia, its first employee in the region. The company now has over 40 partnerships within its ecosystem and executes millions of transactions every month for high-volume customers across several industries.
Ong will be responsible for the business’s customer success, customer support, implementation, and data functions. As COO, he will also look to drive cross-functional collaboration and guide the organisation through its growth. Underlying these responsibilities is the key remit to help deliver maximum value for BR-DGE’s customers.
Thomas Gillan, CEO of BR-DGE, commented, “Building a top-tier team has been a priority from the outset, and I’m delighted to welcome Chun to our exceptional and dedicated leadership team. Chun immediately stood out to us as an exceptional leader across several diverse and strategically important functions, with a passion for solving payment problems.
“He comes to BR-DGE with invaluable experience helping fintechs to scale rapidly while ensuring consistent product and service delivery, and most importantly, the ability to keep customers happy.
“BR-DGE is entering an exciting hyper-growth journey, and we are making huge strides. Our solutions are proven to give enterprise merchants and payment providers the edge they need to meet their growth objectives, the flexibility to fit around emerging customer demands, and the insights they need to optimise.
“As we scale, we want to ensure our values, culture and commitment to our customers remain unchanged. Chun’s ability to build and oversee operational enhancements, inspire high-performing teams across a range of functions, and his relentless focus on creating the ultimate end-to-end customer experience are exactly what we want at BR-DGE.”
Who is Chun Ong
Ong has deep experience working in the financial sector. He has assisted several startups to scale their operations acting as COO for Tarabut and digital mortgage company Molo Finance. Ong spent five years at WorldRemit, where he first headed Operations. He was then promoted to VP of Customer Insights and Operations.
He began his career as a corporate and leverage finance lawyer. Ong led teams that executed 30 transactions of up to $1.5bn in value. He then spent two years as a consultant for the Boston Consulting Group, working with several global organisations.
Ong commented, “Payments touch so many aspects of our daily lives. Merchants of all sizes, especially global ones, are becoming increasingly aware of the need to constantly innovate and push the boundaries of their payment capabilities. BR-DGE has a massive opportunity to help them on this journey and become the transformational payments platform for them. This core mission of BR-DGE’s immediately resonated with me.
“I jumped at the opportunity to join BR-DGE, not only for how it’s blazing a trail in payment orchestration, but also the fantastic people. My core belief is that people are what makes a company successful. At BR-DGE, I’m inspired by the thriving, collaborative and community culture that’s infused throughout the whole company, from the ground up to the leadership level. I can’t wait to join the whole BR-DGE team along this fantastic journey in helping customers solve their payment problems.”
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
In 2023, BR-DGE achieved a remarkable 600% growth. It recently launched its white-label payment orchestration solution, which will drive further growth. Ong comes in at a time of unprecedented growth for the company.
Gillan has brought in what he feels is a safe pair of hands to guide the organisation through its next phase of growth. BR-DGE is continuing to expand with open positions for a CP of Marketing, and a VP of Product. It appears to be growing a senior leadership team that will help drive further growth.
