This is the 78th in a series of business tips from industry leaders that Enterprise Times has spoken to. At Dreamforce, I interviewed Colin Johnson, Co-Founder and CEO of Aprika, the company behind Mission Control PSA. Johnson spoke about how Mission Control has been attaining its vision and his ambitions for 2025.
Johnson leads a small SaaS vendor that grew out of a Salesforce services company. I asked him how Aprika looked after its staff. In addition, what tip would he share with someone looking for advice?
He replied, “We’ve always focused on building a culture within the business that is more like a family. My approach is that I make time for everybody. As simple as it probably feels to me, as the CEO, I don’t think you can put a value on how much importance individual people place on having one-on-one time with you.
“We have team meetings all the time, but I make sure that I’m actually meeting on a one-on-one basis with each person on a quarterly basis to understand how things are going from a work perspective, but also what’s going on in their personal lives as well.
“Chris (Woolcott) and I set up the business with a focus on being able to enjoy our personal lives. So, we make sure that they all have the opportunity to focus on what they’re trying to achieve personally as well.”
