Support Revolution has announced that it will now offer a comprehensive support solution for VMware Software. Broadcom’s changes, including the transition to subscription-based fees, have significantly increased costs for many organisations.
IDC analyst Niel Nickolaisen provided six approaches that VMware might consider. Support Revolution is now offering a seventh. It will enable organisations to retain their VMware suite of virtualisation tools. While receiving the support they need at a much lower cost than they can afford.
For many organisations, VMware software has become an intrinsic element of their infrastructure with its suite of virtualisation and cloud infrastructure solutions. Changing it for something else comes at a considerable cost, which includes training, implementation and risks. Support Revolutions is offering a new customisable support offering that will offer an alternative option.
Mark Smith, CEO of Support Revolution, commented, “As more organisations embrace cloud and virtualisation technologies, VMware has become critical to their IT infrastructure. Expanding our support services to include VMware was a natural next step and allows us to extend the many benefits of our popular third-party support model.”
What is the Support Revolution Support Service
Organisations signing up from Support Revolution will benefit from the following:
- Support for all versions: Organisations can now receive support for all versions of their legacy VMWare licenses for as long as they need, with no support deadlines.
- Tailored support services: Flexible, cost-effective support tailored to each organisation’s needs without vendor-driven timelines or forced upgrades.
- Global expertise: A dedicated team of highly trained VMware specialists offering 24/7 support to ensure optimal performance, enterprise-grade security, and compliance.
- Cost savings: Clients can achieve substantial savings on their VMware support, with a guaranteed 50% cost reduction and as high as 90%.
Support Revolution has not answered several questions about this new support model. There is no list of all the VMware software that supports Revolution so that firms can confirm that all their software is supported. There are many VMware solutions.
Also, there are few details around response times and whether there are different levels of support. Some VMware software is critical for organisations, and they may wish to have a faster response. There is also no mention of any length of term customers are expected to sign up for.
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
For existing Support Revolution customers, and for organisations looking to move support for legacy SAP and Oracle away from those vendors, this is good news. It will allow them to consolidate support for a large portion of their maintenance budget. With a single third-party support company.
Reducing the number of support partners frees up resources for CIOs to focus on strategic projects such as digital transformation. Support Revolution’s new offering is something all VMware providers should consider.
Support Revolution is not the only firm to offer this service. Earlier this year, both Rimini Street and Spinnaker Support announced similar services. That there are three such third-party support suppliers gives CIOs a choice. Which also means that pricing should remain competitive.
Support Revolution needs to provide more information about this new service. It will no doubt add more content to its website here in due course.
