Hanks joined on 1 September and reports directly to 1Streetworks MD, Andy Fennell. He will bring over a decade of sales leadership experience and will lead and develop the existing high-performing sales team to drive sales growth. The target is for him to capture a larger share of the $400 million market.

Claire Milverton, CEO of 1Spatial, commented, “We are excited to have Nabil and Steve join our UK and Ireland business. With their proven experience, we are now well-positioned to capitalise on the significant location data market across our key industry sectors of government, utilities, transport and street works. We look forward to providing you with a further update on the Group at our interim results in October 2024.”

Who is Nabil Lodey?

Lodey has held two other CEO roles. At Envitia, he helped grow sales by 250%, from £3.5 million to £10 million. He helped return the business to profitability before a Private Equity exit. He joined the Data and Geospatial software and services business as sales director in 2018, staying for five years.

Lodey also served as CEO of GlobeRanger, delivering 10x sales growth within 2 years, with Fujitsu subsequently acquired the company.

Lodey also worked in business development for KBR Inc and Lockheed Martin, having studied at London Business School, where he was the Sloan Fellow in Leadership and Strategy. After serving in the Royal Navy as an Officer, he worked as a barrister for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer / Derains & Gharavi.

Lodey commented on LinkedIn, “I’m delighted to be joining the brilliant Claire Milverton and team at 1Spatial as Managing Director (UK & Ireland).

“1Spatial is an incredible company with a great reputation in the geospatial data sector that I have admired for a while, with its market-leading software and consulting business and strategic projects such as the Geospatial Commission’s National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) Programme.

“It’s also good to be back in the data / geospatial sector to help customers on their data journey.”

Who is Steve Hanks?

Hanks has a proven track record of success in the central, local government and engineering asset infrastructure sectors. He will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing sales team to drive sales growth and capitalise on the significant £400m market opportunity.

Hanks joins from Thinkproject, where he was an Enterprise Account Executive UK, Ireland & Nordics. He also served in senior sales positions at Thinkproject, Confirm, and Pitney Bowes. He joined Pitney Bowes from MapInfo, now part of Precisely, after that firm emerged after the acquisition of Pitney Bowes Software (including MapInfo).

Hanks has a BTech from the Hastings College of Information Technology. Hanks commented on LinkedIn, “I’m thrilled to announce my new role as Director, Business Development – 1Streetworks at 1Spatial!

“Exciting times ahead as we delve into innovative digitisation and the future of Traffic Management planning. I’m looking forward to engaging with both current and new customers on this thrilling journey!”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean?

1Spatial has brought in two proven sales leaders to help boost growth in the UK.  There is likely more hiring to come as Lodey looks to invest in growth. Lodey especially is an experienced business unit leader. Milverton may relinquish the running of the UK business unit to him, which should free her up for more strategic thinking.

It will be interesting to see how 1Spatial performs in 2025 and what its growth will be over the coming year.
