At SuiteWorld, NetSuite announced a new integration tool for Salesforce. The NetSuite Connector for Salesforce will enable customers to synchronize data between NetSuite ERP and both Salesforce Sales Cloud and Salesforce Marketing Cloud. The NetSuite Connector is an add-on module that customers must pay for. The announcement came during the keynote at SuiteWorld, which is being held this week in Las Vegas.
Next week, Salesforce holds its annual conference, Dreamforce, in San Francisco. This announcement will be of interest to many of the joint customers.
The Connector will enable organisations to synchronise data between these different systems of record, reduce data silos within their organisation and accelerate order-to-cash and revenue recognition processes. With accurate data, organisations can produce more accurate reports and extract improved business insights from their data.
Gary Wiessinger, Senior Vice President of Application Development, Oracle NetSuite, commented, “In the past, joint customers had to conduct manual batch updates or use third-party integration products to harmonize data between the two platforms.
“With NetSuite Connector for Salesforce, joint customers can align data in both applications to expand visibility into order details, customer and contact information, order fulfilment details, and financial information like invoices, payments, and sales. As a result, customers will be able to improve both the speed and accuracy of business processes and decision-making.”
Nick Johnston, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Salesforce, said, “Together, Salesforce and NetSuite will help businesses get the most from their data regardless of where it resides. The ability to share and unify data between our platforms will provide a foundation to enable improved CRM experiences, from automated workflow to AI-powered agents.”
What will the NetSuite Connector for Salesforce do?
The NetSuite Connector is powered by the Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC). It claims to enable connections between any application and data source, including Salesforce, SAP, Shopify, Snowflake, and Workday, to automate end-to-end processes and centralize management.
The Connector will support several use cases and data sets, including:
- It will synchronize financial data, including invoices, payments, credit limits, and due amounts. This data will enable sales executives to keep up with data about the financial elements of their customer relationships.
- Customer record data will be synchronized, ensuring accuracy in both systems. However, it is not clear which system will be the master record in this relationship.
- Product and Service information will be kept up to date. It includes the latest pricing and details of products and services. This means that organisations will not have to undergo cumbersome manual or ETL work to ensure that data remains consistent across the organisation.
- Orders will also sync between Salesforce and NetSuite. This enables opportunities within Salesforce to be turned into orders and then created and updated automatically within NetSuite.
The NetSuite Connector for Salesforce does not yet have an entry in the Salesforce AppExchange. Though other solutions offer alternative integration solutions. On SuiteApp.com, these include solutions from Celigo, Jitterbit, Workato, Boomi, and Folio3. The Oracle Integration for NetSuite, an earlier iteration of the new Connector, is also available.
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
Historically, Oracle and Salesforce have competed heavily against each other. While that is unlikely to change much, this announcement recognizes that the Salesforce market is significant for NetSuite. Few ERPs are native to the Salesforce platform. They often have a narrower industry focus than NetSuite, for example, Certinia and Accounting Seed.
While it is slightly unclear what the enhancements over the previous OIC solution will give NetSuite customers, that it is now available as an add-on module for NetSuite users rather than a third party application is significant.
NetSuite Connector for Salesforce is planned to be available in North America within the next 12 months. NetSuite gave no availability date for other regions.
