Crown, appointment Image by talpeanu from PixabayPromon has announced the appointment of Daniel Kollberg as Chief Executive Officer. Kolberg replaces Gustaf Sahlman, who resigned in April after 9 years leading the firm and nearly 15 years on the board. Sahlman left in April and was appointed CEO of Curity in June 2024.

Kollberg joins the firm after an extensive search for the next CEO of the leader in proactive mobile application security. He will join the firm on September 16th. He will be based in Oslo, where the Promon HQ is located.

Andreas Thome, Chairman of the board of Promon, commented on the appointment, “We are delighted to welcome Daniel Kollberg to Promon. His extensive experience and proven leadership in the cybersecurity industry make him an invaluable addition to our executive team. And will help us achieve the next step in our growth journey. We are confident that under his leadership, Promon will continue to achieve remarkable growth and set new standards in the mobile app security industry.”

Kollberg has been brought in with the support of Gro Capital, which led a consortium of investors. Including Kirk Kapital that acquired a majority stake in the firm in December 2021. That funding also saw participation from Trifork, an international provider of NextGen IT services and solutions. Kollberg has been brought on to grow the company. Though it is unclear what access to additional funds he will have. However, Kolberg has been tasked to lead Promon’s continued innovation and growth in the mobile application security sector.

Maxwell Veyhe, Partner at Gro Capital and member of Promon’s board of directors commented, “As investors, we are excited to welcome Daniel Kollberg as the new Chief Executive Officer of Promon after an extensive global search,” said “His strategic vision and operational excellence will undoubtedly drive significant value for our stakeholders. We look forward to witnessing the transformative impact of his leadership on the company and the mobile app security industry at large.”

Kollberg joins from Sentinel One where he was Senior Vice President EMEA. He led a 20X revenue growth in the region. Kollberg was promoted to SP from VP for his achievements in the highest-growing region. He also helped to lead the company through its IPO.

Before SentinelOne, Kollberg held leadership positions at security firms that included Palo Alto Networks, FireEye, NTT Security, and McAfee. He began his career at IBM. Following him earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from DTU, the Technical University of Denmark.

Daniel Kollberg commented, I am thrilled to join Promon and contribute to its mission of making the world safer, one app at a time. Mobile app security is at a critical juncture, and Promon is uniquely positioned to lead the way in servicing customers with an industry-leading technology through a world-class team dedicated to excellence. Which aligns directly with my vision for how to build sustainable operational success.”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

The investors have found the CEO they want to lead the next phase of growth. Kollberg has found an experienced leader who has a proven record in building teams and revenue at other security companies.

It will be interesting to see the strategy that Kollberg adopts as he looks to accelerate Promon’s growth. In April, Promon introduced SDK Protection, a post-compile solution that secures software development kits (SDKs) without impacting development cycles. With changing regulations and new tools, can Kollberg take Promon closer to a leadership position? Gartner has already recognised Promon within the Gartner Hype Cycle for Application Security.
