It has appointed Anthony Barsoom as its new Chief Financial Officer. He replaces Aaron Barfoot, who left to become CFO of Socure last year. The second appointment is that of Jim Howard as Vice President of sales in the Americas.

Who is Anthony Barsoom?

Barsoom joins from Zoom, where he was Head of Finance for the last three years, leading the company’s post-pandemic initiatives to increase its sustainable profitability. During his career, he has held both CEO and CFO positions. He was CFO at the Amazon subsidiary before becoming its CEO for nearly three years. He also spent ten years at The Home Depot, most of the time in senior finance positions, becoming the CFO of its $34 billion northern division.

Barsoom commented, “I’ve spent most of my career on the merchant side, navigating the worlds of fraud, abuse and payments and their impact on the bottom line,” said. “The decision to join Forter was an obvious one – they’re pioneers in this space with a powerful platform, a large and growing customer base and a proven business model.”

He did not come to finance through the usual route. Barsoom attained an MS in Structural Engineering at Stanford University and began his career as a civil engineer. He switched to finance and gained an MBA, with an emphasis on corporate finance and venture capital, at Duke University.

Who is Jim Howard?

Howard is a sales leader with over 25 years of growing and leading sales and operations teams for enterprise SaaS companies. He was previously VP of Sales, Americas at Tufin. Prior to Tufin, he held leadership positions at VMWare, Pivotal Software and spent eleven years at CA Technologies. Howard has an MBA from the Copenhagen Business School and a BA from Humboldt State University.

Forter has hired the services of two very experienced leaders to help drive continued growth. It is Howard’s appointment that catches the eye, as he is a proven leader in SaaS sales. Known as the “Build Guy”, he has built winning sales teams and strategic sales operations from the ground up. With a focus on the Americas, Reitblat clearly hopes that he has found the right man to accelerate sales in the US.
