Conner replaces George Gallegos, who led Jitterbit as CEO for almost 13 years, joining in Aril 2011. For Gallegos, it seemed it was time for a change or at least a well-deserved rest. It will be interesting to see where he re-emerges after such as successful stint. He will retain a position on the Jitterbit board.

Gallegos commented, “Leading this company for the past decade has been an honor. Throughout this period, we’ve expanded our global footprint reaching new markets, transitioned our products to the cloud, and guided the company through multiple acquisitions to deliver additional value to our customers.

“I am grateful for the Board’s support in my decision to step down, and I feel confident that handing the reins to a technology veteran and pioneering leader like Bill Conner marks the beginning of a new chapter, ushering in fresh perspectives to propel our organization forward into a dynamic future.”

Conner noted, “I want to thank George for leading Jitterbit’s charter over the past 13 years, building and scaling its growth from inception to its current position as one of the leading iPaaS providers in the industry. We are grateful for the solid foundation he has built for the company, and look forward to him continuing on the Board.”

Conner is an experienced leader and has delivered success for several organisations over the last few years. He left SonicWall in January 2023 having led the company as CEO for nearly six years. He then stepped back as Executive Chairman for a few months. He transformed the company as an independent following its carve out from Dell, and during his term the company saw huge growth, increasing the value of the company significantly and growing its partner ecosystem significantly.

At Silent Circle, he transformed the company into the enterprise Software Privacy segment. He grew revenues by 83% and completed a Series C funding round in eighteen months.

He led Entrust as President and CEO growing product revenues by 18% year over year for four years, twice the market rate. In 2009, he took the company private after leading it for eight years as a public company.

Within the tech industry, Conner was frequently recognised for his leadership. He was named by CRN as one of the 25 Most Influential Executives for Three Consecutive Years (2017-2019). In 2022, he was a finalist for the SC Security Executive of the Year. Other recognition is scattered throughout his career. Conner has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Princeton University. He also has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

An inspired move by the investors?

His experience in building growth organisations is impressive. And it is a remarkable appointment for Audax Private Equity, who invested in Jitterbit in 2020. Iveshu Bhatia, a Managing Director at Audax Private Equity, commented, “Bill has led multiple cybersecurity, SaaS, data networks, and other technology companies to great success during the most transformational technology shifts in the Digital Information Age, and we’re confident his visionary and operating leadership will equip Jitterbit to capitalize on the exciting market growth we see on the horizon.”

Conner said, “I am really excited to be joining Jitterbit at a pivotal moment in its growth journey. I look forward to building on some of the foundational elements that have set the company apart: our exceptional culture, our product leadership, and our position in the business digital revolution. I have a deep passion for the market, the company, and the products, and am inspired by the team’s vast achievements. I want to thank the Board for their confidence in my leadership, and I look forward to building upon the tremendous foundation and talent already in place at Jitterbit.”

Timothy Mack, Partner at Audax Private Equity, remarked, “Jitterbit is poised for an exciting new chapter with the appointment of Bill Conner as President and Chief Executive Officer. It marks a strategic shift in leadership in guiding the company through its next phase of unprecedented growth. We look forward to Bill’s vast experience with go-to market sales enablement, renewals, service excellence, renewed roadmaps and operational mastery.”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

Conner has transformed companies over both short and long periods. It will be interesting to see what his vision for Jitterbit is. And whether he believes this is a short-term appointment or something he is looking to build a legacy. There are a few things from his experience that might indicate some of the changes he will undertake.

Will he look to extend the partner ecosystem that Jitterbit already has? It has been several years since Jitterbit raised funds, and Conner has contacts across several PE firms. He worked closely with Thoma Bravo at Entrust, for example. He also has experience of running a public company. Gallegos believed that the company would have gone public by now. Is Conner the leader who will accomplish that?
