Securiti has announced the appointment of Jack Berkowitz as its Chief Data Officer. Surprisingly, for a company that focuses on enabling Chief Data Offices to harness the corporate data they are responsible for and control the complex security, compliance and privacy risks, it appears to be its first Chief Data Officer.
Berkowitz joins from ADP, where he was the Chief Data Officer for the last two and a half years. There, he had global responsibility for data and analytics management, data security and governance, data platforms and analytics/machine learning operations. He also led product development of ADP’s People Analytics, Benchmarking & Insights products, embedded machine learning capabilities, and additional data monetization products and services.
Before ADP, he spent nearly 7 years as VP, of Products and Data Science for Oracle Adaptive Intelligence. Which will have gained him a wide knowledge set to fulfil this new role. He also worked in product and engineering roles at several firms, including Attivio (bought by ServiceNow), Fieldconnect and The Mitre Corporation.
Berkowitz will bring a deep experience of working in larger-scale environments with Data and AI. He will be a strong addition to the Securiti leadership team.
Previously the CDO of ADP, Berkowitz brings deep expertise in enabling the safe use of data & AI in large-scale environments. He will work with Securiti’s key clients and partners to expand Securiti’s market and product capabilities. He will also support the product function to support industry advancements in data and AI use and security.
Berkowitz said, “Having witnessed Securiti’s Data Command Center in action, I recognize its unique ability to enable safe use of Data and AI in a cohesive way by unifying contextual data intelligence and data security, privacy, governance and compliance. I’m excited to be joining a world-class team at Securiti and help enable the realization of the vision of a unified Data Command Center for the enterprises.”
Powering up Securiti
Data management is a critical concern for organisations today. With demand for AI solutions requiring even greater amounts of data. Organisations must ensure that the data is of high quality, secure and compliant, to the extent that AI insights delivered do not compromise data security. Securiti offers four solutions that help organisations to improve the data readiness for AI and compliance requirements.
- Asset and Data Discovery
- Sensitive Data Intelligence breaks the silos of data and risk understanding
- Data security and posture management
- Data Lineage
Berkowitz knows the platform and context that Securiti operates in well. He spoke to Rehan Jalil, CEO of Securiti, in a Spotlight, talking about mitigating risk while harnessing generative AI. It appears that the conversation impressed Jalil, such that Berkowitz was considered for this role.
Jalil commented, “As the former CDO of the Fortune 500 company with highly valuable global data, Jack brings unparalleled insights, experience and vision on how to safely use data and AI across the hybrid multicloud. His visionary approach to data and AI is in harmony with our mission to enable enterprises to safely harness the incredible power of data, AI and the cloud by controlling the complex governance, security, compliance and privacy risks.”
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
Berkowitz will not only bring a depth of experience but also a number of relationships with leading enterprises from his time working at both ADP and Oracle. This is the second senior hire in a month. With Securiti also appointing Bruce Nixon as its first Partner Director of APAC & the Middle East last week.
It has been a busy December, with the company also announcing a strategic partnership with Databricks. That added to its existing partnership with Databricks and support for a wide range of cloud technologies, including Snowflake, AWS, Azure, Oracle, Workday, Salesforce, GCP and Microsoft 365. The glaring omission from that list is SAP, though in June, the firm announced integrations to SAP ECC, SAP HANA and SAP SuccessFactors.
It will be interesting to see how Berkowitz influences both the market approach and product development in 2024.
