Apple Four in one Meredith Rowan, vice president of Applications, Oracle Australia and New Zealand,AMP Limited provides banking, superannuation retirement and advice services in Australia and New Zealand. Supporting over one million customers and employing approximately 3,000 people. The company is divided into several business units and has grown through acquisition. As part of its simplification of technology initiative, it looked to consolidate the four legacy HR solutions it had in place across the organisation.

Those solutions managed different aspects of the People services function, including learning, performance management, and recruitment. None of the systems were integrated. It leaves the people services team with manual processes and a fragmented experience for HR, leaders, employees and job candidates.

The lack of a centralised system also meant it could not effectively understand, manage and improve the talent within the business. The team sought a solution that would meet all its HR needs. After a careful selection process, it opted to deploy Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM).

The Oracle solution provides an integrated suite of HR Tools. These would also integrate with the other Oracle technology the financial giant uses in-house. It also meant that, for the first time, the firm would have a single repository for talent information. This allowed it to leverage every process within HR.

Malcolm Dore, Director of People Services at AMP, said, “Our employees have come to expect intuitive technology and seamless processes – consistent with their home lives – and our previous HR systems weren’t hitting the mark.

“We needed a platform that was able to streamline core people processes in a consistent and scalable way. With Oracle Cloud HCM, we have streamlined our HR operations and created a unified employee experience to significantly improve insights and productivity as the organisation looks to the future.”

The solution

AMP has fully deployed Oracle Fusion HSM and implemented the Oracle HR Help Desk. That solution has enabled the people services team to better handle service requests, improving service levels for the staff. The system routes the service request to the best person in HR. They resolve the issue, shortening resolution times and making the HR team more effective.

AMP has now established a robust Talent framework using Oracle Talent Management. In addition, it can now manage, deliver and record compliance training through Oracle Learning and its integration with Talent Management. Adoption has soared for the HR solution. Historically, the legacy solution only gained around 30-40% adoption, and Oracle Fusion adoption exceeds 90%.

At the front end of HR, AMP is now using Oracle Recruiting to reduce the time to hire and onboard new employees quicker. It means not risking manual errors during the onboarding process.

Meredith Rowan, Vice President of Applications, Oracle Australia and New Zealand, commented, “Having to toggle between several different HR technology systems can create confusion for managers, employees, and candidates, ultimately wasting time and leaving key tasks incomplete.

“With Oracle Cloud HCM, AMP has created a more efficient workforce by connecting HR processes and providing employees with a cohesive experience, which has resulted in better workforce insights and decision-making.”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean?

While already an Oracle house, this is still a significant win for Oracle as it extended its footprint across the AMP technology landscape. Importantly, the Australian finance firm has achieved its objective of simplifying its technology. Reducing the number of applications it has to manage and the number of suppliers it engages with.
