“Creating AI-powered solutions with Google Cloud cements the significance of our collaborative partnership. We are moving to strengthen AI in the eCommerce industry together.”
With the BigCommerce and Google Cloud partnership expansion, BigCommerce will accelerate its use of AI technologies to help merchants innovate. The company says this will help them succeed with a simplified and modernised approach to enterprise eCommerce.
Key features
Among the upcoming AI-powered solutions scheduled to release, the following key AI features will give merchants the ability to work smarter, faster and more efficiently to:
- Create compelling product descriptions with AI-powered writing features by leveraging Google Cloud’s Vertex AI in the backend. Merchants can save time and simplify the writing and creative process that enable product catalogues to get to market more quickly and efficiently. This will help to improve SEO rankings, product discovery, increasing traffic and conversion rates that aid in more sales.
- Deliver highly personalised storefronts. Powered by Google Cloud’s Recommendations AI, merchants will have a seamless way to create personalised product recommendations. These product recommendations will be tailored to each customer’s taste and preference. Elevating product discovery to potentially increase average order value (AOV), conversions and lifetime value (LTV).
- Gain deeper insight into business performance with AI-driven data analytics. The BigCommerce E-commerce Insights tool will evolve to feature new AI capabilities. This will enable merchants to derive deeper data insight and analytics into store performance, and customer trends. Furthermore, they will be able to respond to business changes as soon as they happen.
- By automating processes with AI across their eCommerce operations, merchants can organically save time and improve operational efficiency and productivity. This will be achieved by using AI algorithms to streamline workflows, accelerate product development cycles, reduce costs and accelerate time-to-market.
“Successful companies will be those that can leverage AI to solve time-intensive business problems in a seamless, efficient way,” said Carrie Tharp, vice president, strategic industries at Google Cloud.
“Through Google Cloud Vertex AI, BigCommerce will be able to transform ecommerce functions for more merchants, enabling them to access, build and deploy machine learning models and AI applications at scale all in one single platform.”
Enterprise Times: What this means for business.
Compared to other eCommerce competitors, BigCommerce appear to be slow off the blocks in embracing the AI wave hitting enterprises. Perhaps the company was too busy building alternative interesting partnerships with other third parties, or possibly, it lacked the deep pockets of Salesforce or Adobe to fund the necessary R&D for AI development. Hence the partnership with Google.
The Google Cloud AI tools will extend the platform’s capabilities to allow enterprise merchants worldwide to use AI. BigCommerce says the new capabilities will help brands to work smarter, faster and more efficiently. They are expected to see improvements in sales, boost conversions and heighten customer experiences.
This is an important release for the company. BigCommerce is making serious efforts to go upmarket and become attractive to enterprises and global companies. Every week, many of its competitors are releasing new AI features and functionalities aimed at the same target audience.
