As bp focuses on energy transition, moving towards lower carbon energy transitions, it has frequently looked to Infosys and its expertise to help on that journey. In 2020, bp announced its new purpose, net zero ambition, organisation and strategy. It aims to become carbon neutral by 2050. In 2021 bp and Infosys announced they would work together to develop and pilot an energy as a service (EaaS) solution for campuses and cities that would reduce emissions.

Infosys will continue to work on modernising its application landscape. The goals for doing this are:

  • enhance business resilience
  • drive value from operational efficiencies
  • build more adaptive and agile processes to speed up innovation

The two companies will also work together to assist bp in driving sustainability, DE&I and other social impact initiatives.

Salil Parekh, CEO & MD Infosys, said, “This is a strategic milestone in our long-standing relationship with bp. As we see global momentum in energy transition, building a strong digital core and scaling it to maximize operational efficiency is a key business imperative. We are now jointly working towards enhancing digital maturity, productivity, and driving innovation for bp. Together, we will leverage the power of digital technologies and advancements in AI to deliver solutions that will help to transform bp’s operational landscape and drive business growth.”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

Infosys has a long history of working with bp and other energy companies. It has a wealth and depth of knowledge in the transition to green energy. Energy companies worldwide must transform their industries to ensure they can continue in business. For bp and others, it means seeking experts that have helped develop solutions elsewhere and understand the industry.

Infosys understands the industry and bp specifically. It has built trust around delivering application services over the years. As far back as 2009, it was chosen to deliver application development and application maintenance services to bp as the lead vendor.
