BigCommerce has announced a partnership with Oracle NetSuite. A core component of the new partnership is the NetSuite Connector, available from Suiteapp.com. Unusually, NetSuite has developed the connector to set up data mapping between NetSuite and eCommerce storefronts, point of sale (POS) systems, online marketplaces and third-party logistics providers.
It enables merchants to connect eCommerce activities with backend operations such as finance, inventory and order management. The connector eliminates the need for spreadsheets and time-consuming import and export processes. It is unusual because most of the entries on the SuiteApp site are developed by the ISVs that want NetSuite users to purchase their solution.
NetSuite has extended its connector to support BigCommerce, indicating the growing importance of the eCommerce platform for its sales efforts. BigCommerce integrates with software like Xero, Sage and QuickBooks, and for organisations using these solutions, NetSuite is one upgrade path to consider.
Guido Haarmans, Group Vice President SuiteCloud Developer Network and Partner Programs, Oracle NetSuite, commented, “Merchants need flexible, scalable systems to keep up with shifting consumer demands and economic conditions.
“NetSuite is the industry-leading Cloud ERP, and BigCommerce is an industry-leading eCommerce platform. By joining forces, we can offer customers a centralized business system that connects their eCommerce platform to key business data including financials and inventory to optimize operational processes and grow online sales.”
BigCommerce helps organisations grow
For some organisations, BigCommerce delivers a successful eCommerce platform, which can strain other operational processes. The partnership provides an easy path for those companies looking to improve their backend operations without impacting, perhaps even enhancing, the integration between the front-end store and the backend.
Sachin Wadhawan, Vice President of Tech Partnerships at BigCommerce, commented, “For our customers and prospects that need a business system to better help run their business, this partnership helps strengthen their tech stack and provides a foundation for growth. Our commitment is to provide a modern, composable eCommerce platform that tightly integrates with NetSuite for complete business visibility.”
One customer UPLIFT Desk, an office furniture designer and reseller, has leveraged the integration to improve operational efficiencies. The connector has also helped improve fulfilment accuracy for both single purchases and high-volume orders. The firm also increased its conversion rate using BigCommerce, and helped process a 226% increase in orders through the automation provided by the connector.
Bryce Bowerman, Chief Operating Officer at UPLIFT Desk, commented, “Our BigCommerce integration with NetSuite’s ERP changed things tremendously for our sales team. At one point, the team had to enter orders manually with lots of time-consuming verification steps. Now, we can enter orders directly into BigCommerce, and the data then transfers into our ERP, which enables all order data to originate from the same place.”
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
The NetSuite connector is not the only integration option for BigCommerce companies using NetSuite. There are also integrations provided by Celigo, Jitterbit, Patchworks and Folio3, the last two of which appear as dedicated integrations.
What is missing from this announcement is whether there will be any joint go-to-market initiatives as part of the partnership. The NetSuite Connector also provides integrations to Shopify, Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay and Walmart. That NetSuite has invested development time into connecting with BigCommerce, it doesn’t appear the integration goes further than any others.
There are clear benefits to both sides for this, though with BigCommerce can show that NetSuite is invested in maintaining the integration, enabling organisations to grow with their favourite eCommerce solution. As they upgrade their operational systems, they can do so without replacing their eCommerce store.
