Teradata has announced services enabling organisations to accelerate Ai-driven digital transformation initiatives. The connected multi-cloud data platform for enterprise analytics company has integrated Teradata Vantage Cloud with Google Cloud’s Vertex AI and ClearScape Analytics. Teradata launched ClearScape Analytics in August 2022, enabling organisations to operationalize AI/ML at scale. Bringing this together with Google’s Vertex AI enables organisations to build, deploy, and scale machine learning (ML) models faster.
Organisations can now combine the sophisticated Vertex AI Models with the scalability and performance of ClearScape Analytics to drive business cases across the AI landscape. This is not about just modelling theories; ClearScape Analytics will allow organisations to leverage huge pools of data, such as that provided by the recently launched Teradata VantageCloud Lake.
This integration, following a few weeks after the company announced the integration of Teradata Vantage Cloud and Microsoft Azure, shows that it aims to ensure that its data tools are available to every enterprise.
Hillary Ashton, Chief Product Officer at Teradata, commented, “Our customers are investing in the power of AI to fuel their digital transformations and achieve tangible business outcomes that have a real-world impact on their businesses. Our openness and scalability facilitate the operationalization of Vertex AI’s models across an organization and its mission-critical use cases – such as customer churn, fraud detection, predictive maintenance, and supply chain optimization. Customers are able to make bold business decisions, driven by data, that keep them ahead of the competition.”
AI can drive revenue growth
The use of AI within organisations has moved from providing niche solutions to applications across the business. Applied against large data sets with data integrity, it can make a real difference to the top line. A recent Accenture survey studied the earnings calls made by executives at the world’s 2,000 largest companies. Those organisations discussing leveraging AI were 40% more likely to see their firms’ share prices increase.
However, only 12% are AI achievers and have managed to operationalise their AI investments. This announcement should help firms move from AI experimenters (63%) to AI achievers.
Vertex AI enables users to leverage cutting-edge algorithms to build high-quality AI models faster and with less expertise. When combined, Teradata’s AI and Vertex AI enable companies to put more sophisticated AI models into production faster and to scale those models across the organization.
It will achieve this by providing three steps for leveraging AI:
- Accelerate data preparation by quickly integrating disparate datasets that span diverse environments, data lakes, and object stores. Using the power of Teradata’s analytics capabilities, ClearScape Analytics, particularly its robust in-database analytics, data scientists can transform data into rich, reusable analytic datasets.
- Build and train high-quality AI/ML models faster with Vertex AI using analytic datasets prepared with ClearScape Analytics.
- Operationalize the Vertex AI models at scale in VantageCloud. The integration with Vertex AI offers VantageCloud customers direct, transparent, and real-time access to all their models, delivering the crucial insights needed to drive business outcomes.
June Yang, Vice President of Cloud AI and Industry Solutions at Google Cloud, commented, “Vertex AI enables data scientists to build, deploy and scale machine learning models faster, with fully managed tools and services for use cases across industries. This capability, when combined with the vast and reliable analytics data sets prepared by Teradata, gives customers the ability to scale their AI/ML initiatives quickly and with confidence, speeding time to value.”
Available now, this combination of Teradata VantageCloud and ClearScape Analytics with Vertex AI will enable customers to accelerate their transformations.
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
This integration will make it easier for firms to leverage the sophisticated capabilities of Vertex AI. While many AI analytics solutions are out there, they often use a similar and relatively straightforward set of algorithms. This latest integration will enable organisations to take a bigger leap forward.
However, this release lacks the different use cases that it claims customers will be able to solve with these solutions. They no doubt exist, but Teradata must demonstrate the value it can bring organisations quickly. For Google, this alliance validates its investment in its AI platform and Vertex AI especially. It will be interesting to see what case studies emerge.
