McLaren Workday (c) 2023 McLarenWorkday and the McLaren Formula 1 Team have announced a multi-year partnership. Workday will become an official partner of the Formula 1 Team in 2023. The partnership will also see McLaren deploy the Workday financial planning software. It is not the only sports partnership that Workday has. In May 2022, it extended its partnership with Formula 1 as the organisation deployed Workday HCM. It also sponsors Borussia Dortmund (BVB), and Southampton FC uses its solutions.

McLaren will benefit from Workday Planning and forecasting software. The solution will enable McLaren to apply its flexible budgeting, scenario planning and reporting to continuously plan for the future. The adaptive planning solution will help deliver transparency with simplicity.

Watch out for the Australian Grand Prix

The sponsorship will commence at the Australian Grand Prix on the 31st March, with the race on Sunday 2nd, April. Workday branding will appear in several locations. However, it isn’t clear whether the car will have a logo.

Matt Dennington, Executive Director, Partnerships & Accelerator, McLaren Racing, commented, “We are excited to welcome Workday to the McLaren Racing family. In the competitive world of Formula 1, efficiency and performance are crucial both on and off the racetrack. Workday will support our team’s enhanced financial and operational planning, improving our agility in key decision-making. We look forward to integrating Workday’s solutions into our team from 2023.”

Pete Schlampp, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Corporate Growth, Workday, added, “Teaming up with McLaren will help accelerate Workday’s global brand awareness across F1 and enable us to support their team as they drive forward in the future of work.

“We are proud to partner with one of the iconic names in auto racing and this latest collaboration is a testament to the strong relationship Workday has with some of the world’s most recognisable organisations in sports.”

Enterprise Times: What does this mean

For McLaren, this is the second relationship with a tech vendor it announced in 2023. Last week it unveiled a partnership with Salesforce with the racing team using its Customer 360 product suite, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and MuleSoft. In February, NTT DATA extended its multi-year relationship with the racing team as it continues to support and modernise McLaren’s core enterprise IT systems.

As 70% of the McLaren enterprise IT tools and systems are in some way being supported or developed by NTT DATA, the global consulting firm will likely help deploy Workday and Salesforce. While NTT DATA offers Workday consulting services, it does not appear on the Workday site as a partner though.

McLaren is an iconic name in motor racing; however, it has yet to score a point in the current season. Workday hopes for better times, though that seems more likely in 2024.
