The update is the winter release of Kantata SX, built on the Salesforce platform. The update was previously covered in a roundup of news last November. This slightly belated release highlights some key features Kantata announced, that indicate where it sees the most traction from customers.

The release highlights the integration with Salesforce Revenue Cloud, consisting of the Kantata CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) Connector. The add-on enables organisations to create a flow of data between Salesforce Revenue Cloud and Kantata SX that helps improve the efficiency and accuracy of the transition from opportunities to projects. The bi-directional integration also feeds resources available back into Salesforce CPQ, enabling sales teams to reserve resources for a specific project to help win jobs and improve forecasting.

Other improvements

Kantata also highlighted enhancements to the assignment search interface. Early adopters of this feature which enables Resource Managers to create and share views to better process the complex relationships between the global resource pool and the work they’re doing are enthusiastic. Alice Jones-Evans, Executive Manager Business Improvement, ESRI UK, commented, “Our project managers live in the assignment search pages, and these enhancements will make it easier for them to plan our day to day activity and keep our capacity forecast up to date.” As they adjust assignments, the resource capacity information is automatically updated, removing a need to switch between screens.

Period Close has become simpler with new automations that send reminder emails to proposal owners, delivery engagement owners, and account owners to address uncommitted revenue for proposals, delivery engagements, and delivery elements to streamline the process. There are enhancements to the automated processing methods that empower routine changes to operational revenue and cost rate. Administrators can create ‘what-if’ scenarios that automate a greater percentage of settings, reducing the amount of manual administration required. Andrea Stephens, Director Operational Excellence, at Finastra, noted, “This is powerful automation and will significantly accelerate our cost rate management process and simplify how we roll out complex operational changes.”

Enterprise Times; What does this mean

Kantata continues to deliver significant improvements in its Professional services tools. This latest update is one example of that. The CPQ Connector is especially significant and enables organisations to bring their sales and operational teams closer. Kantata has already made three announcements in the first couple of weeks, included in the appointment of a new CTO, Ken Ringdahl, and a review of 2022.
