Lottery - Image by Mohamed Hassan from Pixabay Novamedia has selected Oracle Fusion applications as part of an international standardisation programme that will transform finance and HR across five countries in the organisation. It will replace Exact Globe in the Netherlands, the ERP solution it deployed in 2014. It will also mean a single HR solution for its 1,500 employees, providing the leadership with a single view of the organisation.

Once deployed the solutions selected, Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (EPM)Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM), and Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM) will deliver a single source of truth across the organisation. This will enable the different national organisations to share information and work consistently.

Novamedia operates the popular Postcode Lottery across the Netherlands, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany and Norway. It is the third largest private donor to charitable organisations worldwide. During its 32-year history, it has raised and donated more than 12.5 billion euros to more than a thousand charities and social organisations worldwide. In the UK alone, Novamedia recently celebrated the milestone of raising £1 billion for charity and good causes.

Selecting Oracle made business sense and helped to attain sustainability goals

As a multi-national organisation, it had outgrown its previous solution. It was looking for a system to enable it to grow further and deliver the organisational visibility required. The initial programme will see the deployment of finance, supply chain management, and human resources solutions across the organisation. The oracle solution will also help to identify and manage its carbon footprint better using the sustainable Oracle cloud operations and applications. Moving to the cloud will mean it can reduce IT systems and operations. Oracle estimates that cloud operations are 60% to 70% more efficient than on-premises data centres. Oracle also reuses or recycles 99% of its retired IT equipment. In 2021, it achieved 99.6%. It has also declared that it aims to have 100% of its energy sourced from renewable and be net zero by 2050.

David van Leijenhorst, finance director Novamedia/Postcode Lottery Group, commented, “At Novamedia, we believe the world benefits from strong social organisations, and in our organisation we will never rest on our laurels. As a team we strive for the best and aim to harmonize our finance and HR processes.

“We have partnered with Oracle to implement this way of working in the cloud and have faster and more insight over these processes throughout the Lotteries. With Oracle Cloud Applications, we have an integrated application platform that will help us become more flexible and adaptable in an increasingly complex and competitive environment, and ultimately help us deliver on our mission to create a better world.”

Another solid endorsement of the Oracle Fusion applications, this time from a multi-national company that is perhaps smaller than many of its other customers. It demonstrates that Oracle Fusion can deliver a solution that is right for the mid-market. It isn’t known whether Novamedia considered Oracle Netsuite for its next application. It may have done but decided against it as its SuitePeople (HR) application is less mature and may not have all the localisation requirements that Novamedia required.

Cormac Watters, executive vice president, Applications, Oracle EMEA commented, “In an increasingly uncertain world, organizations must be able to remain agile and adaptable in continually changing circumstances if they are to survive and thrive, and social enterprises are no exception.

“Novamedia has a culture of progressiveness and innovation that has turned it into one of the frontrunners of the charity sector in Europe and globally. With Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, it now has an integrated platform to support both its current and future needs.”
