Blockchain Catch-upThis is Charles Brett’s start-of-the-week Enterprise Times ‘blockchain catch-up’ 2022-Week 39. Necessarily it is idiosyncratic and selective.

It is not intended to be comprehensive but does seek to highlight ‘Quick Takes’ on specific developments as well interesting pieces to read, a listing of some (not all) announcements/press releases and pointers to upcoming events.

Quick Take(s) – Charles Brett’s Blockchain Catch-up 2022-Week 39

Innovation in post trade services – opportunities, risks and the role for the public sector

In a speech to the AFME Conference, Sir Jon Cunliffe, Deputy Governor for Financial Stability at the bank of England, examines “regulators and central banks have become increasingly focussed on ‘crypto’. No meeting of the international regulatory or central banking community takes place without a discussion of some aspect of the financial products, services and technologies that have come to be labelled ‘crypto’.”

Quick Take: this is not a long speech. Yet it contains much to digest. Definitely worth a read.

ESMA publishes report on the DLT pilot regime

“The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU’s securities markets regulator, has today published its Report on the distributed ledger technology pilot regime (DLT Pilot). In the report, ESMA provides guidance on certain technical elements and makes recommendations on compensatory measures on supervisory data to ensure a consistent application by DLT market infrastructures from the start of the regime.”

Quick Take: required reading (as is the that about progress on the digital euro – see below).
