There were no less than ten announcements from Xero this week, which are covered below and in the research roundup. Several of these were announced at Xerocon New Orleans. Forterro welcomed back Battery Ventures as an investor. Five months after it sold the company, it bought back 10%.

Pick of the week

Acumatica unveiled the 2022 R2 of its ERP solution. The company continues to claim it is the fastest-growing ERP company. It has now added usability innovations, increased businesses’ ability to target new geographic markets and segments, and sharpened the targeting of micro-markets and verticals.

John Case, CEO of Acumatica, said: “In today’s digital economy, small and mid-sized businesses are competing with larger companies for market share. To be successful, these businesses must seize every opportunity to enhance and streamline operations and flex their financial muscles. Acquisitions

The Access Group has acquired the award-winning staff rota software Rotaready. Rotaready will be incorporated into its hospitality division and enhance its existing people software solutions. The Access Group also acquired Fathom. Fathom is a reporting, forecasting and financial insights business management solution. It delivers insightful and fast reporting and analysis capabilities to small and medium businesses and their accounting firms.

Appointments

Sage appointed Mark Hickman as the new Managing Director for Sage Canada, effective August 2, 2022. Hickman will lead the evolution of Sage in Canada and help guide the company’s growth over the next several years.

Business

Nextworld ERP software company has entered into a strategic partnership with FastClose, a leading provider of real-time financial reporting and Accounting Intelligence. FastClose will augment Nextworld’s reporting capabilities by enabling customers to visualize real-time financial data across multiple dimensions. The integration will introduce efficiencies to recurring financial processes for Nextworld customers.

PDI has rebranded to PDI Technologies. This update also includes a new logo and website. The intent is to reflect better the firm’s ongoing commitments and investments supporting industry transformation.

QAD FTZ, the QAD Foreign Trade Zone solution, has achieved the Veracode Verified Team Tier Status.

Sage has extended its partnership with the Canada Games Council, expanding its support to include the PEI 2023 Canada Winter Games. The PEI 2023 Canada Winter Games, is hosted in Prince Edward Island from February 18 – March 5, 2023. It will mark a decade of Sage showing its Canadian pride by championing the ambitions of Canada’s top amateur athletes.

In addition to its results, Workday noted the continued success of Workday Financial Management. In Q2 alone, it signed up customers, including American Electric Power, Apex Fund Company Services Limited, Carle Foundation, Dave & Busters, Express LLC, Samtec, and the State of Vermont. It also celebrated go-lives at Comerica, RSM, The Boyd Group, the University of Central Florida, and the University of Virginia.

Xero presented scholarships to student members of two industry associations it supports in the United States: the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA Inc) and the Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA). Xero also launched an annual scholarship with the Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA). The award is based on academic achievement and financial need. It will be given to a Black student who studies any accounting field at an accredited Canadian college or university.

Customer

The InterChange Group is to digitally transform its warehousing capabilities with Blue Yonder. It will implement Blue Yonder’s SaaS-based warehouse management system (WMS), warehouse labour management (WLM) and Luminate Billing, all part of Luminate Logistics, to futureproof its warehouse and fulfilment operations.

Sutton Tools has deployed Infor M3 CloudSuite for manufacturing to achieve a timely and accurate understanding of its business to drive product and company expansion both domestically and abroad. Sutton Tools has also implemented Infor OS cloud operating platform, including the Infor Intelligent Open Network (ION) and Mongoose.

MRPEasy revealed how UK sustainable cleaning products manufacturer Splosh uses its solution to get a grip on its production planning and inventory management.

Oracle NetSuite published the story of Steeda Autosports. It selected NetSuite in 2020 and has seen improvements across financial, customer services and inventory management, to name a few.

Maja, director and founder of Hooman’s friend, revealed how Pandle has helped organise expenses and manage payments.

Ramco Systems is to implement its Logistics ERP Software at Freight Specialists, a leading freight and distribution services provider based in Sydney, Australia, to automate company-wide operations and services.

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) has switched from Oracle to Rimini Street for improved support and security of its Oracle database and technology platforms. The University has slashed wait times for support requests. It has improved service quality and has innovative, advanced security to protect its database and application middleware. Rimini Street is helping the University manage the ongoing IT skills shortage by reducing the IT labour required for support. It is allowing resources to focus on the rapid transition to hybrid learning.

Financial Reports

Intuit published Q4 fiscal year 2022 results. Revenue rose 32% year over year to $12.7 billion, including 8% from the Mailchimp acquisition. Sasan Goodarzi, Intuit’s chief executive officer, said: “We had a very strong fourth quarter, ending the year with momentum. We’re more confident than ever in our long-term business strategy as we power prosperity around the world. Our platform and offerings are mission-critical for consumers and small businesses, and we are proud that Intuit is the platform of choice for over 100 million customers around the world.”

Product

ClearBooks has added an instant bank payments feature to help Clear Books users get paid faster by enabling their customers to pay instantly and directly via bank transfer.

Hansaworld unveiled version 2022-08-01 of its ERP solution. It improved localisation for Brazil, Finland, and New Zealand. There are updates to the HR and Hotels modules and several bug fixes.

IRIS Software Group launched IRIS Financials for Charities, a powerful new cloud-based tool designed to save charities and not-for-profits time, money and energy so they can focus on what counts – ensuring funding makes the biggest impact.

Jesta I.S. launched Vision Sourcing & Demand 22.0. Vision S&D 22.0 is packed with new features, functionality and integrations to optimize product journeys from sourcing and procurement, material resource planning, product data and lifecycle management, demand forecasting and customer order management, and B2B/B2C sales and customer service.

Pandle revealed improvements to banking integrations with automatic checking of bank transactions, supported by checking rules.

Xero announced various updates designed to make annual compliance significantly easier for Canadian accountants and bookkeepers to serve their small business clients better. Xero added a new inventory feature and announced a partnership with Avalara to bring enhanced sales tax capabilities to its software for US customers.
