The integration supports online entrepreneurs and early startup businesses in creating a fully functioning, product-stocked, sales-ready eCommerce store.

Dropshipping is a form of retail business wherein the seller accepts customer orders but does not keep goods sold in stock. Instead, in a form of supply chain management, it transfers the orders and their shipment details to either the manufacturer, a wholesaler, another retailer, or a fulfilment house, which then ships the goods directly to the customer.

BigCommerce says the new integration can create new eCommerce stores in a few easy steps. The company says the solution helps remove the complexity barrier for aspiring entrepreneurs seeking to start their own online businesses. This is managed by rapidly selecting the category of products to sell, and automatically building and populating a customised webstore. There is a selection of pre-installed themes and pre-loaded products from a range of categories.

Setting up a dropshipping business

Click2Launch is the culmination of a collaboration between BigCommerce and Avasam which began in March of 2021. Click2Launch provides merchants with a simple method to set up their own dropshipping business. Entrepreneurs can sell inventory from a wide range of products across 15+ core categories with no upfront stock purchases. Designed with BigCommerce’s Commerce-as-a-Service solution, the integration automates core eCommerce functions. This includes order processing, inventory synchronisation, payments and shipping so merchants can focus on scaling and growing their business.

Enterprises face the ongoing supply chain challenges and stock outages created by the increase in costs of goods. Reducing supply chain touchpoints and enabling access to products close-to-source is a competitive advantage this integration offers for small-and medium-sized eCommerce merchants,” said Jim Herbert, senior vice president and general manager EMEA at BigCommerce. “We’re extremely pleased to announce the release of Click2Launch. Designed with Avasam, our new integration makes large strides in simplifying the process for small businesses or aspiring entrepreneurs. This will enable them to create their online dropshipping business.

Providing the tools for online sellers

Avasam is a UK-based multi-channel DropShipping marketplace. The company provides all the tools needed for online sellers to integrate their stores, and source products from UK-based verified suppliers. The solution automates their order processing, payments and shipping.

“The biggest challenges we’ve seen online sellers face include setting up their storefront and choosing which products to source and sell. The Click2Launch integration makes it even easier for sellers to set up their online business. It gives them more time to spend on getting customers. Our catalogue team curates top trending products and pre-load them into your store ready to sell based on your category of choice. It couldn’t be easier,” said Mustafa Khanbhai, Chief Revenue Officer, Avasam.

The estimated market value of dropshipping has seen a surge in recent years. By 2026 it is forecasted to grow to 476.1 billion U.S. dollars globally due to the flexibility and agility it offers to individuals setting up online businesses, minimising risk by reducing costs such as storage, logistics and the products themselves.

Last month, BigCommerce released its Multi-Storefront. A new feature that helps enterprise merchants to create and manage multiple storefronts within a single BigCommerce store. The company expects it will drive growth while reducing operational costs and complexities when managing multiple storefront experiences.

Enterprise Times: What this means for business.

On paper, this sounds like a marriage from heaven. The Avasam marketplace has rapidly grown with products from suppliers across key categories. This includes home and garden, health and beauty, consumer electronics, sport and fitness and even pet supplies. BigCommerce’s eCommerce platform has grown and evolved and now supports merchants of all sizes. So, developing a storefront to sell white labelled goods makes perfect sense for the company.

BigCommerce and Avasam say their new integration allows enterprises to have a pre-built online store with a preloaded theme and products in 90 seconds. It can only be assumed that this solution will be low-code based. This will be essential. Particularly for small businesses and entrepreneurs, who do not have the IT departments or resources needed to quickly get online. BigCommerce says the integration will enable aspiring entrepreneurs and small business merchants to set up online stores in a few steps. This may lower the entry barrier for small businesses to create an online dropshipping business.
