Onapsis has reached an agreement to acquire Virtual Forge for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 2006 and based in Heidelberg, Germany, Virtual Forge provides cyber security tool to protect SAP solutions. These include code scanners for both ABAP and SAP HANA. Its customers include The Linde Group, Rohde & Schwarz and Turmpf. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2019
For Onapsis this extends the breadth of its SAP solutions and also gives them a bigger presence in Germany. Mariano Nunez, CEO and Co-founder, Onapsis Inc commented: “With this acquisition, organizations will have one single partner and one single platform to secure and protect their SAP infrastructure, including segregation of duties, custom code analysis, vulnerability assessments, secure change management, compliance automation and continuous monitoring.”
One customer, Mario Chiock, Schlumberger Fellow and CISO Emeritus clearly sees advantages in the new combination. He commented: “As an organization faced with the daily challenge of securing critical applications, we use both Virtual Forge and Onapsis solutions. However, having separate vendors and lack of integration makes it difficult for us to manage compliance and risk holistically. With this acquisition, we and all SAP customers will now have a one-stop shop for SAP cybersecurity needs, reducing resources, time and cost; consolidating reporting and compliance demands.”
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
The Cybersecurity market probably has too many vendors in currently. This is an example of the consolidation that is likely to happen over the coming months. For Onapsis it provides functionality that fills in the missing pieces from its technology, making its offering stronger. It is also a good move for customers. It should reduce the number of supplier relationships they need to retain.
