The software is integrated to Microsoft Office 365 and brings professional services automation features to Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.

At a high level the features include:

  • Customizable role-based dashboards
  • Project Setup
  • Project Budgeting
  • Resource Management
  • Project Cost Tracking
  • Project Monitoring and Analyzing
  • Remote Time & Expense Entry & Approval
  • Project Invoicing
  • Project Reporting, Analytics & Forecasting

The complete solution integrates business processes across CRM, ERP, Office automation and PSA. It leverages the Microsoft cloud software through integrations with PowerBI, Sharepoint and other Azure hosted apps.

Robbie Morrison, Chief Solution Strategist, Velosio commented: “By maximizing individual productivity, optimizing work processes across functions, and providing visibility and insights, our customers can improve utilization, project quality, customer service and profitability. Beyond project capabilities, they get the tools and insights to drive excellence in strategic planning, sales and marketing, operations, finance and administration and deliver the best customer experience possible.”

Velosio appears to be a partner of Progressus and certainly helps to market the software to small to mid size professional services organisations. What isn’t clear is what functionality has been improved in the latest release of the software.

What does this mean

Listing on the Microsoft marketplace does not guarantee customers. The last review was in 2017. Part of the challenge is that searching for PSA on the Marketplace provides 138 responses. Many of these are not, in fact, PSA solutions. In fact Progressus does not appear at all on the G2 Crowd Grid for PSA.

There is a lack of supporting information around what the new version contains. There is no list of feature improvements that might persuade buyers or existing customers to understand what is new. This is a shame and it might have highlighted a deeper competitive advantage of the solution against its competitors both on the Microsoft Marketplace and beyond.

For those organisations looking at Dynamics and finding that the native Microsoft PSA solution does not deliver enough functionality, Progressus may be worth a look.
