Pegasystems has announced that the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) in India has selected it as the core software technology for the statewide transformation project e-Pragati. GoAP will deploy the Pega Government Platform as the software to drive the ambitious project forward.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described e-Pragati as the programme that will help the government make a smooth transition from real-time government to real-time governance. It is one of the largest government transformation projects in the world. It will impact 33 departments, 315 agencies, and 745 citizen services. The scope of the project is huge, encompassing Certificate-Less Government System (CLGS), DialAP, Mana Rashtram, tele-health, e-education, HARITA, e-Mandi, Citizen Inbox, Digital Literacy, e-SHG, Smart City and Smart Grid.

Balasubramanyam, IPS, CEO, e-Pragati Authority commented: “As the first state to conceive and execute a statewide enterprise architecture, Andhra Pradesh has always been at the forefront of implementing e-governance. The goal of ONE government and e-Pragati is to provide all citizen services online with a citizen-centric lifecycle approach, helping end their frustrations. The portal’s centralized nature will accelerate digitalization and control of departments, offer a single window into all government services, and ensure improved data security. Essentially, it will become our single source of truth for our entire government mechanism.”
GoAP also selects EY
Pegasystems won the bid after a three month procurement process against three other vendors. The final test saw Pegasystems build an application using its no-code application development platform within 24 hours. The flexibility and speed with which the Pega team developed, deployed and were able to change the solution was a key reason for its selection.
GoAP selected EY to deploy the Pegasystems platform in a hackathon that saw them beat teams from Infosys and Persistent. The hackathon saw EY score almost maximum marks in the process (69/70), nine point ahead of the next SI.

What does this mean
For Pegasystems India this marks the first client win for its sales support office in Mumbai. Historically the Pegasystems presence in India has been for engineering and product development across Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Pegasystems has seen the opportunity that India provides. It is not the only one. Epicor recently expanded its presence in India and signed a distribution agreement with Redington India last year. It is a strategy that is already beginning to pay off.
This latest deal by Pegasystems has wider significance. If successfully deployed it will send a message that other government bodies, not just in India will note.
