Enterprise Times recently had the opportunity to visit BT’s brain’s trust at Adastral Park. It is one of the biggest research and development parks in the UK. As well as housing some of BT’s brightest minds, it acts as a clearing house for testing all of BT’s technology. There is so much equipment here that Kevin Woollard, Operations Director BT Research and Technology says: “We have enough equipment to run Belgium.”

This is not just about BT. The site is also home to an incubator project called Innovation Martlesham. Start-ups are given access to offices, technology and other facilities. Unlike some incubator projects, BT does not take a stake in those start-ups. It allows them to develop and grow their own products and business. If there is a potential for the technology to improve BT’s own products it will then cut a deal with them.

Enterprise Times sat down with Kevin Woollard to talk about what goes on at Adastral Park and what the next big thing is going to be.
