Workday strengthen green and CSR program

Workday has an impressive CSR program, the Workday Foundation was set up 2013 and it engages not only with its staff but also welcomes partners into its community program. In conjunction with the new office opening it also reaffirmed its commitment to the values and CSR policy that other companies could take not of.

Over the last few week’s there has been an increase in publicity around CSR; Tableau announced a new initiative and free analytics software recently for charities in the US, a scheme that will imminently extended into Europe according to a spokesperson. At IPExpo this week iomart shared its themed stand with Rainforest Concern, a charity that it supports as part of its CSR concern.

Workday is supporting local schools and charities in the local community letting employees spend time to help children from underprivileged backgrounds improve their reading and technology skills. There is also support given to two local charities Giving Tree and Darkness Into Light as well.

Working with Dublin City Council (DCC) employees have created a smart city application called Green Capital. While Dublin lost out to Bristol for the European Green Capital Award for 2015 it is striving to improve its chances for its next attempt.

Whether this will be applying for the 2018 is yet to be seen, but initiatives like this will help its cause. The application will allow city planners to identify where street trees should be planted to based on criteria such as air pollution, population density, and walking patterns helping to create a greener, move livable city.

That CSR is at the heart of what Workday does for its company, employees and community will have in no small way contributed to its placing of 4th  on the Great Places to Work Institute 2015 list of Ireland’s best workplaces in the medium-sized company category.
