The agreement also includes some technology sharing. Whether that means ASUS might start producing Windows phones is yet to be seen. In fact these deals will mean that Microsoft is able to get closer to these manufacturers and may be able to leverage that relationship to start building windows devices in the future. There is no doubt that with more device choice on the market there is a better chance of success for Windows mobile.
Nothing that has been said in the release or wider seems to contradict this possibility and while such devices will take a while to emerge it may put ASUS General Counsel Vincent Hong comment in a slightly different light: “This agreement will give us both a greater ability to innovate for our customers. We see it leading to broad partnership opportunities for future technologies and a strengthened relationship between our two companies as leaders of the technology industry.”
